Anji

nana, that was a gr8 story.

eye can so relate 2 u about things feeling surreal yesterday...

everyday eye get off at Aldgate East 4 work/uni. But 4 some reason eye felt 'strange/off' yesterday morning, so eye decided 2 sleep n, which is very rare 4 me.

Can u imagine the look on my face when eye realised what could have happened had eye gone on with my day as usual?
It seems my friends n different parts of London have very similar, fortunate stories.

Eye am thankful that u n ur boyfriend r safe n sound, 2gether again.

I just wanted to say...

Four years ago when I first started posting on the old Org, I didn't really know anyone at all. When 9-11 happened there was certainly a lot of support and sympathy and shock and everything (also the requisite nutjobs lol), but it wasn't personal like this...

I don't think I knew two people in London. Now, I was like "Where's Lleena?, where's Anji, where's Frog, Kiren, Toni, RED...etc etc on and on...All these people I now know and care about...

Anji & Lleena, thanks for the sweet offers. I was scrambling to find his house number but all of our London mobiles are dead, I can't find the chargers, and their SIM cards are not compatible with my American phone. So I went into his hotmail to rifle through and find his house number somewhere. Yes, I am a terrible girlfriend, but I think in this case, it was justified. I saw that both emails I sent to him on the 7th after the explosions were read. Unless someone else is also going through his email I think it's safe to say that he's alive and well. I hope his family is ok too - and that that's not the reason I haven't heard from him. I will give him a kick in the ass for making me worry like this - only because I'm not there to give him the biggest hug since he's safe.

(Llee I just noted you all of this! lol)

This image for me was very surreal, they kept showing it on T.V. it was displayed on all the major roads leading into London. It said, "Avoid London. Area closed. Turn on radio."

I've never seen it before, nobody had up until Thursday and hope we never do again.

Hi Sammy

London is a huge city with people commuting in for work every day. To see this must have felt shocking. When people turned on their radios they realised why.

Thursday morning I was on the 9.03 train into London Liverpool Street but the train was turned back at a stop called Ilford, a few miles from London. We stopped at a station called Seven Kings too which is near London. I saw lots of bomb disposal vans, ambulances & police cars racing down a road near to the station. I understand that some emergency vehicles were employed from outside the city centre and sent to the scenes.

I wasn't directly involved in these terrible attacks, but even from that train the shock waves from what had happened were felt.

What really impressed me was the way people dropped their everyday defences and stuffiness and readily shared information with one another. People were receiving calls from their loved ones telling them what had happened from the news and sharing it with other people. People were generally very kind and friendly to one another.

I felt really angry about the bombings. I'm not really sure how I feel now. But I did grit my teeth when I heard last night (Saturday) that Birmingham was evacuated.

One thing I am feeling angry with, is when people on the news etc are saying that Britain and Londoners will not be cowed by such events. That we will get on with our lives. I agree with that. But some reports are not at all honouring that people will be affected by this internally; emotionally and mentally. For example on Sky News, one man responded to a report that psychologists made about trauma after such events, with what seemed to me to be outright denial. He said that people will not be traumatised victims, that they will get on with their lives. I think what seems to be emerging is some kind of message to the people who did this, being said like school children in a playground, 'You don't scare me...'. I think people are afraid to say they are afraid. I think people will go on with their lives. I just think some people will of course be traumatised. And this man was attaching a lot of shame to the fact that some people will feel trauma. But it is totally natural to feel that; actually to me it seems unnatural not to.

Personally, I beleive this is a wake up call 2 Britain!!!! nod nod

The UK can no longer adopt an "open house" mentality and let every immigrant, legal and illegal, in left, right and center!!! nod nod This country has been too complacent for years and years and now its time 2 toughen up!!!!

Personally, for a few years now I had a deep gut feeling something like this was gonna happen!! And, as various reports have said, it wasnt a case of IF its gonna happen, its WHEN!!!!! And yesterday was the WHEN time!!!!

There was even an incident down here in Poole, which is right next door 2 Bournemouth(in fact Bournemouth and Poole virtually merge 2gether 2 form one big city). There was a suspicious package, either at the ferry port or the train station!! The thing is many, immigrants, legal and illegal, enter the UK, through Poole!!

By the way, I am glad that many UK .orgers are fine and well and not badly affected by this horrendous event!!! biggrin biggrin
