Honest question: why are conservatives and REPS so unapologetic?

I don't see a thread here but if there is one I apologize. By now, every one has heard of the rally where Palin was the other day and how there were cries of calling Obama a terrorist and John McClain laughing and then someone screamed "kill him".

Where is McCain denouncing this? Why when I ask conservatives or Republicans face to face they skip totally around the issue?

Some of you want to garner votes but lowering yourselves to this is suppose to gain respect for your party?

http://www.huffingtonpost...32366.html

I hope that someone calls McCain on this dumb shit tonight.

Reactionaries thrive off fear and when you're afraid you're "defending" yourself and if your defending yourself, what's to apologize for?

Yeah the whole "kill him" and "terrorist" cat calls at the rallys are really hard for me to fathom.

Sure we call Palin all sorts of names (not that I agree with that) but I don't ever recall that a liberal has called for her death... or called McCain a terrorist...

hmmm

Everytime I comb my hair, Thoughts of U get in my eyes, U're a sinner, I don't care, I just want your creamy thighs

Palin & McCain aren't holding rallies, they are organizing lynch mobs. Have you heard the crowds in these gatherings? Compare the difference of people rallying around hope and these who rally around fear.

I too hope they get called on this. It's not even funny. Any former Clinton supporter who seriously still thinks it's a good idea to vote for McCain, just remember McCain's reaction at a townhall when a woman asked about Clinton "how do we defeat the bitch". He laughed. You're going to vote for that? Seriously?

John McCain never apologizes for anything.

Remember when McCain was at that Restaurant, and that lady asked him "How do we beat the bitch?", and McCain just laughed?

He said at the beginning of the campaign that he didn't want to run a dirty, smear filled campaign, and he'd rather lose then run that kind of campaign.

Not only is he running a dirty campaign, but he's gonna lose anyway, and his reputation is gonna take a HUGE hit!!!

I know. I said the same thing this morning. When I heard that person say "kill him" and then to see Palin's reaction...and she did not say anything, I was like what the....!!! But the Republicans have been untouchable for 8 years. So they think that they can get away with anything. Plus, they know most people are not going to call them on anything. But to she her reaction (She had to hear him, because I heared it), is unreal and she and the Republican base should be called out for their noaction.

Well think about it. Their pundits regularly call for the deaths of liberals. I heard voice clips the other day on an Air America show and it was a montage of conservative pundits, commentators and such doing exactly that. blowhards like Rush Limbaugh, Ann coulter, Michael Savage, and Michelle Malkin only bolster people in their hatred. It's sick.

When they are crazed about supposed infanticide, you don't think they don't think murder of Democrats is justified? They do.

How much you wanna bet that none of them even post to this thread?

OK, so far all you have received are replies from non-conservatives. Or actually, you HAVE received replies from REAL conservatives. Remember - Democrats are the true conservatives. Always have been, always will be.

Any way, I will answer this from my perspective.

It all goes back to Rush Limbaugh.

He has done more harm to this country than any person in our history. He has accomplished this through a purposeful dividing of this country into "us" and "them".

You and me, my friend, are "them".

In Limbaugh's world, it's a zero-sum game. They are FOR the greatness of American; therefore, we must be AGAINST the greatness of America. That means, following Limbaugh's logic, that we must want to DESTROY America.

So we must be destroyed before we are able to destroy America.

I'm sure you've heard this before.

Now that you know how the other side views you, are you surprised that they would feel no need to ever apologize to you for anything?

In their minds, why should they? You want to destroy America. You aren't worth apologizing to.

this is the extent of Obama'a "palling around with terrorists". I hate wikipedia but it's pretty much to the point on this.

Connection to Barack Obama
Main article: Obama–Ayers controversy
Bill Ayers and Barack Obama have been linked during their time in the city of Chicago, where they lived three blocks apart and led charges for education reform in the state of Illinois. The two met "at a luncheon meeting about school reform in a Chicago skyscraper."[40] Obama was then named to the Chicago Annenberg Project board to oversee the distribution of grants in Chicago. Later in 1995, Ayers hosted "a coffee" for "Mr. Obama's first run for office."[41] The two served together on a community anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago, between 2000 and 2002, during which time the board met twelve times.[41] Ayers also contributed $200 to Obama's re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate in April 2001."[40] Since 2002, there has been little linking Obama and Ayers.[41] Obama says he has not visited Ayers during the presidential campaign. The senator said in September 2008 that he hadn't "seen him in a year-and-a-half."[42] In February 2008, Obama spokesman Bill Burton released a statement from the senator about the relationship between the two: "Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence. But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost forty years ago is ridiculous."[40] CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything inappropriate in the volunteer projects in which the two men were involved.[43] Internal reviews by The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time magazine, The Chicago Sun-Times, The New Yorker and The New Republic "have said that their reporting doesn't support the idea that Obama and Ayers had a close relationship."[44]

Look at the thread Hiin started - "Vatican Official Attacks U.S. Democrats as "Party of Death". This is a PERFECT example of how they do it.

Nowhere in the article does the Vatican’s Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature, Raymond Burke, actually CALL the Democratic party the "Party of Death". He says that is a risk based upon certain bioethical decisions.

There is an important distinction here. Hiin said they DID call the Democrats a "Party of Death" - he even purposefully titled his thread such.

He doesn't care a whit whether or not anyone called the Dems that. His mission was accomplished the second he hit "Save New Topic".

We can't let them get away with that crap any more. That is how they win elections. They bullshit and scare undecided voters AND WE LET THEM DO IT.

what are some good ways to get that point across? (to McCain, i mean - the usual suspects around here have no incentive to be honest or genuine)

letters to the editor? letters to the candidate him/herself? protests?
