Prince gets Top Draw Award at Backstage Pass Awards Prince's Musicology tour will be named as the top draw, in the award for attendance. Prince's total of 1.47 million tickets sold topped that of all other artists. The tour was routed, produced and promoted by AEG Live subsidiary Concerts West.

Prince sold more tickets and Madonna made more money is this how it goes?  I guest Madonna would make more money since her tickets were so freakin expensive. I still think it sucks for Madonna to get TTOTYA. I’m totally confused if he sold more tickets than anyone else how come he didn’t get TTOTYA? Doesn’t that mean more people came 2 his concerts? Since more people came 2 his concerts, he should have had the TTOTYA. As far as I’m concern P made more money because he didn’t have 2 pay 4 all that excess overhead and all the people she paid 2 performed with her was over kill. P did a lot of after shows that brought in more money 4 him. I’m beginning 2 hate these freakin awards. It’s not about the talent its all about the money. So since she brought in more money she gets TTOTYA. She gets the better of the 2 awards because of those over priced high ass tickets? lol. It’s diffidently not about the music. The awards mean absolutely nothing because they r full of shit just like some of the artist that receive them. It’s all about the money. Well I’m glad he did receive something ….. I know tons of people that have gone to see Madonna this year and P. None of them expressed that their experience was even close to P's performances. | |

[Edited 11/5/04 14:44pm] The only reason Madonna made more money was the price of her ticket. her tickets were $75-$300 were Prince were $49-$80. Prince's final average was 1.5 million per show and maddonas was 5.2 million per show. Prince did almost 3x the shows she did but Maddona only hit major markets then she did multiple nights in each major market. I have actually talked to some people who attended both shows and Prince was the far better one. Maddona's show they were saying was over produced (ie Janet Jackson) and Prince was simple and great! I'm happy that Prince will receive the award for top draw but he should have gotten the best tour too. That concert was mindblowing and as usual, Prince is getting gyped. That's alright cause when it comes to Prince and touring "It Aint Ova!!!!" I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

Soundscan didn't count his cd "handouts" until 20 April, the retail release date of Musicology. Also, on another occasion, Soundscan didn't count his July 3 date in New Orleans in front of 50,000 people! I don't know the exact retail scan numbers. But my guess would be roughly between 600,000-700,000 to date! | |

Honestly, I don't know what the fuss is over either. Plus I don't like this constant pitting of Prince against Madonna. In reality, they represent a lot of the same things and the same ideals. Each of them is great in their own way. They pretty much defined 1980s pop music and culture. It's all about peace, love and unity people! Our common enemy is hate, indifference and fascist presidents of the United States (I won't mention any names).
