Some random thoughts about Friday (24th)'s and Saturday (25th)’s shows

I had the pleasure of going to both shows this weekend and what a memorable experience! I would highly recommend going if you get the chance. I put together some random thoughts regarding my experience.
3121 Club- much better than the Empire Ballroom; big improvement in terms of the staff; the ambiance (great incense, decor, dance floor, big screens around both sides);visibility ; seating availability for those that wanted to pay; boutique with merchandise)
Preshow – really enjoyed the DJ and the dance montage shown on the big screens
Friday’s show- great!!!
For both nights I wore a nice outfit and comfy shoes or sandals. On Friday, I got there early so I could be in front. As soon as I was let in, I headed straight to the stage. I was able to be right behind the guitar techs and could see the setlist(FYI- Prince did not follow his setlist exactly). I was one of the persons sitting on the floor right next to the stage until the opening act started. It is not that I didn’t want to dance and wasn’t feeling the vibe from the DJ, but I was saving my energy, my spot next to the stage, and my feet for the show. I remembered standing in one place for hours at the Empire Ballroom over Memorial Day weekend and how sore my feet were the next day. Sitting before the show seemed much more sensible. Also Las Vegas is two hours behind the Central time zone I live in. When Prince takes the stage after midnight, it feels like after 2 a.m. for me.
Saturday’s show- – Superb!!!!! As great as Friday’s show was, Saturday’s took it to another level. He rocked it out hard on the guitar and sang the ballads beautifully.
Since I was able to see Prince up close Friday, I came around 11:30 on Saturday and stood in the back by the bar.
Setlist-I loved the fact that it wasn’t a greatest hits review. His selections of songs seemed to be more geared toward the true fan. He also had some hits in there for the casual, stop-in fan.
Stage- I liked the use of the circular staircase, second floor, and the garage door. It kind of reminded me of the different levels from the Sign O’ The Times movie,
Voice- in great form; used lots of beautiful falsetto
Guitar-amazing!!
Horns-nice addition; They add another level and fullness to the show.
Twinz-very entertaining and good use of different dance areas in the club (behind the screens, on platforms in front of and behind the dance floor, and in areas on the second floor of the stage.
Crowd participation- Friday night- Someone behind me kept yelling, “Prince, you sexy MF!” I thought that was really funny and something the fans that have followed him through all the eras could appreciate.
Saturday night- The crowd was really into him and he was feeling it. He came out into the second tier often and at one point climbed up on a chair at someone’s reserved table and started singing.
My personal favorites from the combined setlist from both nights (setlist was not the same both nights; however some songs were played both nights):
Around The World In A Day-beautiful arrangement
Shhh –wow! breathtaking!!!!
Joy In Repetition - beautiful
Forever In My Life w/ Dance To The Music and Everyday People w/ Larry G. –fantastic , (everybody needs to stop hating on Larry; he was awesome)
Anotherloverholenyohead – killer version
If I Was Your Girlfriend - gorgeous
Pink Cashmere– It was great to hear it live.
7 w/ Elephants and Flowers – wonderful; It is always great to hear these live. I liked how the twinz used a veil and finger cymbals.
Crazy -showstopper
Nothing Compares 2 U – also gorgeous
Partyman- always a fun song live

First and foremost thanks for the report. Thats a lot of typing. Second I am happy to see him bringing some fresh air to Vegas. I always had faith he wouldn't become some lame lounge act like so many predicted. The set list sounds great and in my opinion it's one of the best lists I seen since the Lovesexy concerts. Once again thanks and look forward to seeing him live.

I was at these two shows as well and you did a great job on your report. It all goes by so fast nice to have this to remind you of all that happend on those two nights.

My highlight of the night was having Prince come over to our corner and having him sing Shhh to me and then he handed me a tambourine (Nov. 25) what a great two nights hope to get to Vegas real soon again I can't wait I just can't get enough!

Great report, brings back those amazing nights! Waited four years in Europe for Prince to tour again, but no luck there. Moved to San Francisco for my work this year and very happy that Vegas is just a 1.5 hour flight away!

I am still sitting on a cloud since last weekend! I can't wait to go to Vegas again, for me it would have been worth the trip from Holland!

Veronikka, I saw Prince giving you the tambourine, can imagine that was your highlight. You now have evidence it all really happened! Funny to see that your friend later tried to get the tambourine from one of the Twinz, but did not get away with it! It was all such an amazing, unreal experience, no words to describe!

The Twinz, Maceo, Sheila, they just made my night! And Prince, wow! Don't stop! Ever!

Yes, that was actually my boyfriend who tried to get that from one of the Twinz, I thought for sure she would give it to him, at least it looked like she was but it didn't happen for him. It was all just so unreal to see Prince soooo close it was like a dream, I hope to make it back real soon.
