This is from the Pioneer Press web site.

Prince to play Xcel Center on June 16

Officials announced today Prince will perform at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on June 16 as part of his "Musicology" tour. Tickets go on sale March 22 at 10 a.m.

For the first time in six years, Minnesota's-own pop star Prince and the New Power Generation band are embarking on a coast-to-coast concert tour of the United States, featuring Prince performing some of his most well-known hits for the last time.

The tour comes on the heels of Prince's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tonight and his Grammy opening performance with multiple-award-winner Beyonce. The launch of the tour also coincides with the release of Prince's new CD, "Musicology."

The tour launches in Los Angeles on March 29 and continues throughout the spring and summer, hitting more than 38 of cities. The concert will be set up in the round, with a center stage, allowing for many more great seats in each venue.

Tickets will be available at the Xcel Energy Center Box Office, through all Ticketmaster locations and on Prince's Web site at www.npgmc.com.

He did it in 2001! The Celebration was the same week as the two shows he performed at Excel. But pretty soon, the more time that passes without hearing anything definitive on a Celebration, the more unlike it is that there will be one this year. At some point, the logistics and timing of everything just becomes impracticle.

Birthday?

My birthday is in September. The only concert I saw on my birthday was INXS when they were on the KICK album tour.

Anyway, last year on Prince's birthday, I was at the Dixie Chick concert and saw him there. That is the closet to Prince regarding birthdays I could get.

All I want from the tour especially his last is a set list. I want to learn the songs and memorize them before the concert so that I could enjoy it better. It is hard to follow along if I don't know the lyrics to the song playing and I could only enjoy the music.

Many times I would get a set list beforehand. But in the past Prince concerts he doesn't give out what songs he will play. My interpreters always struggle. If I could have a set list then there is less struggling and more enjoyment.

So what do you think the chances are of a Celebration? He's playing in LA on June 12th and Detroit on the 20th, so there is a week in between where he could certainly do something big in Minneapolis. Since he still hasn't announced anything in Virginia/DC/Maryland, a friend and I are planning to fly elsewhere to see him. We were thinking of Chicago, but I've never been to Paisley Park, and it would be so cool if we could go for a Celebration and a show.

Oh, what's a girl to do?
