Jason D collabo w/ Herroyalbadness

Ieva Mikelyte (HerRoyalBadness from Prince.org) sent me this song a few months back and she wanted me to record it and put music to it. The title is "She Wants Something You Can't Give Her". I have finished the song, and although a short song, this is a keeper. I think you will like it. Let me know!

could not feel the reverse music. vocal is good. try putting some overdubs going forward. I think it would make the groove stronger.

I dig it thumbs up! I dig the reverse music but like talmuzic said, I'd put an overdub going forward only on the snare... Handclaps or a gated rimshot or sumfin. You've GOT to extend this.

I liked the harmonies you threw in there. Very nice.

The reverse thing would work better with the vocals turned down. With the vocals sitting too much on top of the rest of the music, it's hard to feel the vibe of the music, but I think if you rolled the vocals back a lot, so they sounded deeply immersed in the reverse groove, the whole thing would come together better.

Your vocals are definitely getting better, but either the pitch-shifter or the mic is still keeping your voice in the bargain bin. Does it sound that lo-fi before you run it through the pitch shifter? Or are you doing the tape-speed-shifting method?

Just curious.

Good to hear your stuff JD.

Otan, I still have the same equipment. Same old external voice synth, same speed control on the Tascam recorder.

If I only had an iMac or even a computer with more than a 266mhz processor- but I don't, and can't afford one.

If I had access to major equipment, I couldn't be effed with, but since I am just a lower middle class dude, I ain't got much expendable income.

Oh, and thanks for the very positive comments, everyone. Psykosoul, if I had some kind of external sequencer I could add drums to the mix, but since this was just reverse Tascam technology, I had to use what I had.

Peace,
JD

yall trippin i love the reverse beats! Maybe because i have done it alot in some of my songs.

Everything is done in reverse here is it? This is a very jammin tune and needs sum extension. But i do agree with the turnin of the vox down...damn..i kinda wish i made this.

There is a message hidden in the reverse if you play it backwards. The forward/reverse beat should sound familiar to you, Isaiah.

There's also a reason that the lyrics are louder in this particular song.
