Suggestion Box

( would be nice if this thread could not turn into a personal proving ground so please check your egos at the door before posting ! Thank you )

Org Suggestion Box hmmm

Are you willing to list 3 suggestions that would have a positive influence on the Org and the reasons you feel it would ?

1 - General Site Overhaul: New layout, colours, forum rethink mebbe?

2 - Chat Update: Chat needs to be born again.

3 - Account creation / deletion policy change.

... and the reasons you feel it would ?

1 - It just would wouldn't it? Its all out of date now and it would be nice to treat the orgers to a new improved place to hang nod

2 - Chat is so out of date. It's clumsy horrible and no-one goes there. With all the chatting that goes on (particularly on GD) there is no reason why chat couldn't be the place 2 b

3 - 5 days to create is to long and to wait 24 hours to wave bye bye is too. I reckon the very mention of the word delete on a thread should result in instant account termination. Starting from now smile

Teacher

I can come up with two so far smile

1. Ability to change your username so you don't have to cancel your account if you feel the need to change username. However, this should be limited to maybe once or twice and have to be requested of a mod with a valid reason, valid meaning a reasonable explanation and not just "I'm bored today so I want my username to be 'bored' ". I realise that this means more work for the mods but it just might stop some people from creating umpteen alternates. pray

That brings me to

2. Tougher enforcement of the "no alternate accounts" rule. This also means more work for the mods but I feel this would only be initially since many of the alters are used purely to troll, bait and generally rile people up. This might be percieved by some (many even) to have a negative and not positive effect on the site but that too I feel would be only initially, the end result would be beneficial imo.

twocents and a huge rose and hug to Mach for trying to make this site a better place despite some people's efforts to shoot it down.

To be perfectly honest, the only thing I can come up with is I suggest that folks stop getting banned altogether. Many permanmently banned people are here anyway. It is not impartial to let some stay and not others.

My two cents.

1. Continuous Chat. The chat should flow instead of a delay in updating. It would eliminate having to hit "enter" over and over

2. There should be a separate forum for grievances to be aired out publicly with the community being the jury on what's fair. This would eliminate anyone putting their own spin to a situation. The community should know what's going. I think it would eliminate some stress and animosity

3. Politics and Religion should be two separate forums. Spiritual discussions and political discussions do not go hand in hand. This would prevent some threads from getting "lost."

well it's tricky... because some things that i don't consider religious are considered religious to others. abortion for example has nothing to do with religion as far as i am concerned. but i know where the suggestion is coming from. some issues you would rather discuss without them dissolving into the same religious arguements confused

I think often, at least in america, they are inextricably linked.

I can see how that could be so with religion and politics

Spirituality for me would in no way really be tied to politics though

True...

But are you then asking for a 'spirituality' forum? And how would that differ from a 'religion' forum?

I think that's why the current set up we have makes sense for the time being... Not to mention, this IS a Prince forum, first and foremost. I remember why we removed those topics from the GD years ago and believe it still makes sense, but I don't know that I agree with further splitting off topic-related forums within the org that have nothing to do with Prince or music...

I can think of two really big ones...

1. Fix the Org bug

2. Fix the search function

I think the reasons for these 2 are fairly obvious...I know the chances of either of these suggestions happening are about as likely as Prince performing Head again, but thought I'd at least throw them into the mix.

The third one would be to have a seperate forum for Prince photo threads. I think that would help reduce the number of "Prince booty pics" and "Prince in (insert color here)" threads in P:M&M. Additionally, if one were looking for a specific type of Prince pic it would be easier to find (especially since the Search function probably won't work wink ).

if we can have a 'section' archived on the site for new fans (and old ones lol), where they can look up what topics were already discussed and instead of creating another 2 threads on the same subject.. the new comments can just be added on to an existing .. thread ..

nod Longtime members may remember our experiment with a "Love, Sex, and Relationships" forum. It didn't work out as planned, so we closed the forum and returned such discussion to GD.
Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position.

This may sound nitpicky, but it would be cool to have links to the various pages of threads that have more than one page to them. THat way, instead of having to click on the thread title, you could just click on a little number 3 next to the title and go directly to the 3rd page. Yes I am lazy, and yes I know this. boxed
