Should Prince have used the bundling technique at the VMAs too?

We all know by now how Prince has recently stormed the charts with his very original and inventive CD bundling technique. You buy a ticket to one of his live shows and you are also going to get to take his new "Musicology" album home with you. And as the CD is included in the ticket price it will be counted as proper sales by Billboard. This has proven out to be a very succesful strategy that has set the industry buzzing.

I was just thinking why stop here? I think Prince would have even held a decent chance at winning an award at this year's MTV Video Music Awards as well. I understand there are awards that are based on a phonecall voting system - the viewer's get to choose their own favourites, right? Here's how it would go in this proposed scenario: each concert ticket sold counts as one vote. You just buy the ticket and his people will make the actual phonecall for you. You wouldn't even have to pick up the phone yourself (that's going to save you a lot of extra work, you know?). Just like you don't have to make the separate trip to the record store when you get the "Musicology" CD by just attending one of his live shows. That's very convenient and definitely what I would call customer friendliness.

I just see no limit to this technique people! Think of all the possibilities: you buy the ticket - you also buy a bottle of milk and a pair of slacks for they are included in the ticket price! Brilliant! Or better yet: what if Prince would choose to include the membership fee to his Kingdom Hall in the ticket price as well. We could all become Jehova's Witnesses just by attending one of his live shows! It works!
