Reincarnate

What song, from any era, would you release now?

It's been said many times, but Prince seems to have a talent for releasing the wrong single at any given time (wrong as in less commercial than others on his albums).

I was listening to Come the other day and there are so many possible singles on that CD. I would love to see Pheremone released, for example - it's just not dated at all.

I haven't used this forum for a while, so if this question's been asked recently, just ignore me and let the thread sink without trace .... wink

That song of the new album he just recorded.
Let's call it Playing 4 Keeps.
And let it be released on vinyl.
And let him pose for a cover.
And let there be a b-side that is so good it rivals the a-side.
Let's call that one Fruity Funk.
Let the 12" have extended versions instead of remixes.
You know, them 10 minute long jams.
Let the cover announce that new album.
Let's call the album Metaphysica #1.
Just for fun. Let's pretend.

Prince's strategy this year was excellent. He included the price of the new album in the ticket sales, which boosted his sales and put him back in the limelight. He also promised to never again perform his old hits live again to bring the old fans back out.

Since the old fans came back out to see Prince this year, I think the new Prince album that they received at the concert should have been an album similar to "1999". An album like this would keep their attention after they left the concert and have them, once again, looking forward to the release of a new Prince album. A lot of the old fans are using "Musicology" as a frisbee.

Good call on the songs from Come; I've grown to appreciate that album over the years and it suffered due to the fact it was the time he was battling with WB. Anyway, as a single, I'd release The Cross from Sign O' The Times!!
"Just like the sun, the Rainbow Children rise."
