KARE11 (Mpls) Item on Prince's Grammy Noms

http://www.kare11.com/new...ryid=72658

Prince Nominated for Five Grammys

Prince's comeback "Musicology" is nominated for R and B album. Prince also is nominated for male pop vocal performance for "Cinnamon Girl," male R and B vocal performance and R and B song for "Call My Name," and traditional R and B vocal performance for "Musicology."

Former Twin Cities producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are nominated again for non-classical producer of the year -- an award they won for their work in 1986. Jam and Lewis also had a hand in Usher's "Confessions," which is up for album of the year.

Some artists on St. Paul-based Red House Records are up for Grammys. "My Last Go Round" by Rosalie Sorrels and Friends is up for best traditional folk album, while "Land of Milk and Honey" by Eliza Gilkyson is up for best contemporary folk album.

Al Franken, who grew up in Minnesota, is up for Best Comedy Album for "The O'Franken Factor Factor -- The Very Best of The O'Franken Factor."

The awards will be handed out February 13, in Los Angeles.

I can't even imagine that liberals find Al Franken funny. I mean Minnesota has produced two of the least funny writer/comedians ever in Franken and Garrison Keiller.

I thought Franken was funny on SNL, especially when he did Stuart Smalley. nod

I don't find any of the punditocracy - whether on the left or the right side of the media wall - entertaining in the least. It's just WWF with business suits. rolleyes

he has? i don't think he's done it since the mid '90s, and he seemed to put the character to bed after he made the stuart smalley movie. what, does he do that character on his radio show? i seriously keep far away from all those shows and books and whatnot as much as possible.

Eh, I guess I'm not in that demographic then - I actually find Al Franken to be funny sometimes. Any political commentator gets old for me in large doses, but occasionally I like him. While I don't find Keiller to be particularly funny, I do like him. And I am looking forward to the movie version of Prairie Home Companion only because the greatest director of all-time - Robert Altman - will be at the helm smile Can't wait.

Yeah, Al should be funny like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly. They're hypocrisy is hilarious.

I basically meant that anytime I ask someone why Al Franken is considered funny they bring up that bit.
