cool Damn! He just keeps getting better & better looking every time i see him. He looked cool & mellow. I liked the outfit. That was a nice touch with the red looking collar. He should have waited for the appaulds to stop. You could barely hear him when he started to read. I also saw when Naomi Watts mouthed "I love Prince". It was all very cool.

I used to think it was corny when people would say that people are looking down on you. And I didn't really... [voice cracking] I didn't believe it. But I got a feeling. Thank you."

He was talking about his [dead] grandmother being able to see him win this award.

Jamie's Grandmother died just last year. He was saying how he used to think it was corny when people say someone is looking down on you, (from above).....he didn't believe it before, but he felt it last night, so I guess now he understands why people say it.

Hope that helped.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I guess his grandmother is dead and probably raised him. He thought that it was corny when other people talked about feeling the spirit of their passed love ones. He basically said that she was there with him.

Jamie Foxx was eyeballing Prince up and down like he wanted a piece of the action or something. Kinda makes you wonder about whether there's an inkling of truth behind the remarks about Prince he used to make in his little standup routine.

Interesting note from EW.com

Apparently the main course was veal so Prince had to summon a waiter to remove it. The waiter said "Oh that's right..you don't eat meat". At that same time, Robin Williams came over to Prince and bowed. When asked at the press why he did it, Robin Williams said when "What Dreams May Come" premiered, he received a note from Prince stating how much the movie moved him.

"I also want to thank you for having Prince, William Shatner, Puff Daddy, and Mick Jagger on the same stage. That is a sign of the apocalypse. Thank you. Thank you. That is the end of the world as we know it!"

The people got a big laugh out of it -- Prince looked like he wasn't quite sure how to take it, with a smile -- and P. Diddy had a bigger smile and clapped.

I didn't get how to take it either. Either he meant he liked all those people and was floored they were there and thought "Ok, something is about to happen" I know I would think that way if all my favorite artists were in one room, but it could have been a diss too. William, Mick, and Prince are legends and Puff is a hot commodity, so I tend to think it was his wierd way of showing appreciation

That movie was hot.... Said my paris hilton alter ego

That's something me and P have in common, taste in movies.

I guess Robin Williams wasn't cool enough to know who mos def was, otherwise he would have tried to say something funny.

I think Robin Williams was trying to point out the surreality of having, all together in one room at the same time, such a diverse group of entertainers who each, for varied and specific reasons, have careers and lives and personas that are especially unique and larger-than-life (and in Puffy's case, that's not always exactly a good thing, imo lol), even by the entertainment industry's standards.

The people Robin named could arguably each be called an "icon", and icons that are pretty different from the others named. So again I say, I think Robin was just trying to make a joke out of how such very different icons were all together in the same place at the same time.

Whether the joke wasfunny or not is subjective, as all humor is rather subjective, but it's my opinion that those who think Robin was making some sort of a dig or insult (especially specifically at Prince) are really missing the point of Robin's comment, and are letting their Prince defensiveness take over.

No, no, no lol ...he said that his grandmother would always talk about people looking down on him, meaning, people that have passed on (died) and are in heaven looking down on him(in thespirtual sense). He finally understood what she meant because although she had passed, he believed that she was looking down from heaven watching him win the golden globe.

Jaime is a HUGE Prince fan. Jaime even made a few appearances at some of the Paisley parties, just hangin' out with us regular folks trying to get his groove on...

A lot of the Freedom Fighters were white who risked their lives by riding the Freedom Buses into the South in support of MLK, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement. My mother has always been a huge fan of Black artists, athletes, and people like MLK, Jr and Malcolm X. She was very upset the day Martin died. One of her best friends used to be a heavyweight champion boxer during the late 70s, early 80s and spent many years in prison. Her heroes have been George Foreman (who she met and I got a picture of the two of them) and Ray Charles -- she always played his music when I was growing up. She also played a lot of Sam Cooke and Charlie Pride. She also subscribes to Ebony magazine. I daresay most Black celebrities have a huge white fanbase who are up looking up (and not down) to them. So when people like Jamie Foxx stand up there accepting a Golden Globe award, we're clapping right along with you. smile
