If Prince was to collaborate with Usher would you lose respect for him?

Or any of the other younger artists today that the "machine" puts out?

Maybe Usher is a bad example...but what about Clay Aiken or Fantasia or Britney? I know someones gonna say "He would never do it". But lets say he did and collaborated with someone that is sub-standard. Shit, even Beyonce.

Would you still respect him, or would you think he's lost his edge and trying to bank on star power to propell his career?

I'd like to say "yes", but I'm pretty sure he would never do that in the first place, because he knows he doesn't have to right now. He's on top again, as far as being "relevant" in the music industry, so I can't see it happening.

That goes for THIS year though. NEXT year however.....

I'm gonna let you in on something: Prince has more star power in his bowel movements than Usher in his entire life.

Whomever Prince collaborates with always ends up sounding how Prince wants anyways. So it would raise Usher up. Check out "Love Song" on "Like A Prayer" that is what it sounds like when Prince works with a "lesser" artist.

it wouldn't matter to me one way or another, because you know prince would mix ursha (or whoever) waaaay down in the mix like he did to just about everyone who guested on the Rave album. lol

To me, he already collaborated with Beyonce (the Grammys). I just kind of looked the other way when that happened--a momentary lapse of reason for Prince.

that's what I was getting at nod Not now...maybe in a few years. Personally, I hope he just wouldn't. Period. His collabs never flesh out to really anything satisfactory.

i think he'd do well in musical theatre. and i say that without an ounce of snark. he has talent. good singer, good dancer. as a pop star, though, i don't think he has the versatility or stage presence to last. maybe he'll go into movies or get a sitcom or something like that. but ursha's hardly what i consider the stuff of an "icon".

Well that's no surprise to me. I actually thought Love Song sucked and is one of Madonnas worst songs EVER!

I always find it more interesting when people play with him on stage rather than on record. While his recorded duets tend 2 b kinda boring, he's done great live per4mances with Stevie Wonder, Angie Stone and Patti LaBelle (The 1st of many that spring 2 mind).

But 2 keep this on the point...

If he were 2 per4m with Usher, I'd give it a listen. While I think he's ridiculous, Usher has done a few songs over the years that I didn't despise.

I actually don't think I know any songs by him. I don't listen to the radio nor watch MTV. Funny, I get most of my music info here biggrin. So, I can't comment on Ushers music, but I do see him as part of the machine of names and faces in the entertainment industry. I think though that if he had anything good, I would have heard it by now, like the same way I heard OutKast's last one.
