Question about Prince bootlegged videos and audios... How do so many of them get made? It seems like the more Prince is against it, the more get made! I haven't seen any DVDs from the Musicology tour but I've heard about a few and I know most if not all of the ONA and Musicology shows,namely have been recorded in some capacity. | |

that would be the easy and obvious answer. but i think its deeper than that. i think its an inside job. seriously. y'know at concerts u got them folks walkin thru the isles and crap trynna catch folk. and with princes anti bootleg tude u know its got to be MANY folks on the lookout. its either prince hisself doin all this bootleggin, or someone in his camp trynna make a lil $$$$$ on the side  Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

Prince does not support bootlegging. He may have shown an apparently ambivalent stance at times, and even described an understanding of why there is a demand for the recorded material. He records his performance for personal use, and has ocasionally released the results. In former times, the security exercised to prevent soundboard bootlegging was weak, resulting in leaked recordings. In more recent times, Prince has exercised stricter control. What other groups besides Prince and The Beatles have their own conspiracy theorist fanatics?
I have personally known some of the bootleggers in the past (the past, ya'll! the past), and they were not affiliated with prince in any sort of approved manner! The bootlegs are of horrible quality. Sure the picture is sharp because we are in a digital mode of almost zero video degradation, but the camera work is like a home movie, often missing parts, or blocked by someone in front, and the sound is recorded straight from the air.... horrible by professional standards.
