Need Help on Prince Documentary.....

Okay folks....Does anyone remember a Prince documentary that came out in 88-89? Nelson Geroge was in it...and the ending of the joint showed Prince at the piano singing "The Ladder" during the LoveSexy tour...What is the official title of this documentary and where can I find it? I haven't seen it in ages.....

It was released on VHS in the US but hasn't made it to DVD. It was also on TV a few times.

In Canada it aired as 'Prince of Paisley Park'.

thats not the one, I happened catch it in 92 or 93, I taped it, its much better than the "Unauthorized Biography", it goes inside Paisley Park, and has many rare clips, I was living with some non Prince fans at the time and forced them to watch it so I could tape it.

Yep it was a BBC documentary for the "Omnibus" programme, broadcast late 1991.

nod It was on HQ before the legal shit hit the fan so to speak. I would say that's close to be pretty accurate plus it has excellent concert footage rarely seen.

Yes, I saw it a few times on television as "Prince of Paisley Park" and before that as a BBC Omnibus documentary and once listed simply as "Prince Rogers Nelson." It was kinda cool to see Minneapolis and Paisley Park before I actually got there!

Is that the documentary where Prince says something about making lots of music because of Minnesota's brutally cold winters? In the one I saw it said that Prince was given many opportunities to focus on his sound because of this.

Any chance that he'll be moving back to Minnesota?

My bad. Unauthorized has Pepe Willie and Chris Moon though, right?

The BBC one was, yes. He even allowed them to choose a number of unseen clips from the vault like pristine copies of the '83 First Avenue and '81 Rtiz New York concerts, as well as rehearsal footage from Paisley Park, and a whole wealth of other cool stuff.

Definately the best documentary I've seen to date.

It's never been released commercially however.

it was authorized by Prince so he allowed them access to rare clips only if it ws 100% pro-prince.
they only spoke to his camp, which at the time included Mavis and Ingrid (with horrible clips of their horrible PP albums).

The clips make me salvate though but you only get your hands on those if you kiss his ass in just right spots!

Thanks for the "help"...but not everyone that ask a Prince related question is a "newbie"...I thought since Prince of Paisley Park was an official UK documentary and not a bootlegg, that I would be able to buy it legally from an overseas site...I can understand if I asked where I could buy a concert bootleg of say Wendy's first appearance as a Revolution member circa 1983 at 1st Ave....But damn, all the sarcasm is a little bit too much sometimes....

Actually... that was posted to the thread in general - simply to remind all involved that Mod eyes are always watching in regard to requesting/selling bootlegs etc - as per Org rules.

So... presumed much?

Respect...But I was under the impression that Prince of Paisly Park was not a bootlegg...It had been broadcasted on commercial television a few times..In my "newbie" delusionary state (LOL) I just thought it would be available commercially...No harm, no foul....

It was broadcast yes, but that is not to say there are not bootleg copies out there doing the rounds, If you want it, you'll find it - but not on the boards.

No harm done, but there has to be a line drawn sometimes, end of story.
