Pussycat Dolls - Don't Cha

Hi all,

Don't you think this is the sort of song Prince would have produced for Vanity 6 or a similar protege if 1985 was 2005? It sounds so Prince-like, from the horns to everything...

My point? I wish he would start to write for young fresh groups again. That would be a great direction.

Thoughts welcome..

And besides that he could have made it for vanity 6, i could imagine prince singing this song maybe with the melody changed a bit.

Prince is thankfully blissfully finished writing songs for beautiful women with minimal talent at best. Those days are long behind him and us.

I wish those days would come back actually. Vanity 6/Apollonia 6/Carmen Electra/Mayte all had great songs imo. biggrin

I'm wandering if they got the idea for the chorus from a Sir-Mix-A-Lot song called Swass (1988)...don't you wish your boyfriend was SWASS like me (SWASS), don't you wish your boyfriend was SWASS like me (SWASS)"...same tune.

I was thinking the same thing. But I'm kinda doubting that they'll admit it until somebody brings it forward.

As far as them doing the Vanity 6 thing, I would say the horns make me think that very quickly...

Horrible song. And busta's rhyme is whack. That vid has every hip hop cliche possible.

on the other hand Natasha Bedingfield's "These Words" is my favortie new song and vid.

Hey sexual chocolate, do you know the whole story about Don't Cha? It was originally recorded by a female vocalist, the song went nowhere; long story short, they started playing it in clubs then the word got it, and it got played a lot and people loved it; the singer wanted out of her then contract with whatever the record company was, and....you got it, she got out of the contract, and now she doesn't get any more money from that song and look at it now! Be careful of what you ask for!

the song does have a Prince feel to it....sounding like something he would have written and produced for his female proteges in the 80s.
