Hollywood Walk of Fame?

I don't know if this has been answered before, so I apologize if it has. However, can anyone tell me if Prince has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame? I viewed the site for star locations on the boulevard and his name was not listed. Thanks.

Thanks guys. That thing is crazy. Ben Stiller and Queen Latifah are getting stars but Prince and Clint Eastwood don't have them? I used to think that walk was for bonafide stars - my bad!

LOL!!! I hear you Zelaira. It's nonsense. Well at least we all know what REAL talent is and how immense his contribution to music and popular culture has been. Even P. Diddy (of whom I am not a fan) makes a reference to listening to Prince in the 20,000th "new" Biggie song.

The question has been asked before.

The 'Hollywood Walk Of Fame' is for those people who have paid a fee to have a star.

Prince really deserves a star now while he's still young enough to enjoy the admiration that his fans have 4 him. I wonder if he really knows how much he is adored and loved wink ?

for the last time, Hollywood does not give you a star on the walk of fame, the artist has to buy one, a star is something u dont have to earn.

Yep u are correct. Anyone can nominate someone for the star, but the celebrity has 2 agree 2 it and send the paperwork. Maybe Prince doesn't want 1.

Prince doesn't need a star on the walk of fame. They gave fucking Ryan Seacrest a star on the walk of fame. Once they did that, any value one of those had was immediately erased.

Ryan Seacrest!?

Think about that, and then ask yourself just how important it is to you that Prince gets one, too.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know that. Well now it makes sense that some truly talented people do not have one. They don't need it to validate their talent.

Prince's doesn't need a star on the hollywood walk of fame because he already thinks people walk on him.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Yeah, I read that the fans have to get together and raise money to pay for it. It cost $15,000

yup..and prince fans could do the same..but then would prince agree to show up? and show appreciation for the efforts his fans put in?

i think in the cases where fans actually coordinate the efforts then the star is truly deserved.

Here's some FAQs from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's website www.hollywoodchamber.net

Walk Of Fame Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I nominate someone for a Walk of Fame Star?
A: Click here for an application -- or you may send us a self-addressed stamped envelope to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at 7018 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA 90028

Q: Who can do the nominating?
A: Anyone, including a fan, can nominate a celebrity as long as the celebrity or his/her management is in agreement with the nomination. If there is no letter of agreement included from the celebrity or his/her representative, the committee will not accept the application.

Q: What is the cost of a Walk of Fame star ceremony?
A: $15,000 upon selection. The money is used to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as maintenance of the Walk of Fame.

Q: Can I nominate someone who doesn’t fit in any of the five categories?
A: No. The categories do not change and the nominee must be or have been active in the field of entertainment.

Q: How long after someone has been nominated will the ceremony take place?
A: The recipient has up to five years to schedule their ceremony. If it is not done within the five-year period, it will expire and an application must be resubmitted.

Q: Does the committee accept signatures/petitions/phone calls?
A: The committee does not accept signatures, phone calls, e-mails, or any form of petitions for a nomination. Only official Walk of Fame applications are accepted.

Q: Who are the members of the Walk of Fame selection committee?
A: Each of the five categories is represented by someone with expertise in that field.

Q: How often are stars voted in?
A: Stars are voted in once a year in June. An average of 20 stars are selected per year. Click here to view a list of the stars chosen for 2006.

Q: If a nominee isn’t selected during the voting process, do I have to re-submit the application for the following year?
A: The application is effective for two years. If, after two years, the nominee is still not selected, the applicant can file a new application or send a letter requesting that the application be reinstated. Updates on the recipients are accepted and included in their file.

Q: When does the Committee meet:
A: The Committee meets once a year, in June.

Q: How can I find out if someone has a star on the Walk of Fame?
A: You can find star locations on the Chamber's website.

Q: Can I attend a Walk of Fame ceremony?
A: Walk of Fame ceremonies are open to the public. There is a public viewing area set up for all to enjoy. Please be aware that ceremony dates are subject to change. Call the Walk of Fame information line (323-469-8311) or check our website for verification.

Q: How many nominations are submitted each year?
A: The committee receives an average of two hundred applications a year.

right u r!

http://ask.yahoo.com/20051025.html

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce administers the Hollywood Walk of Fame, convening a highly secretive and mysterious Walk of Fame committee every year. The organization receives several hundred nominations at the end of May, from which it selects an "undetermined number."

To receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, candidates must meet three criteria:

Professional achievement
Longevity of five years in the field of entertainment
Contributions to the community
Honorees generally receive stars for achievements in one of five categories: motion picture, live theater, radio, television, or music. Only one person has stars in all five categories -- the singing cowboy himself, Gene Autry.
Fame comes with a price, however. In order to receive a star, the celebrity must pay a sponsorship fee of $15,000. Part of this covers security costs. Usually a movie studio picks up the tab as part of a carefully orchestrated publicity campaign for an upcoming film.

Back in the days of the NPG Magazine, they actually suggested once that readers do something to support Prince getting a star on the Walk of Fame.

Haven't heard anything about it since, so I assume it's not a priority for him.

Screw it, let's do it. Are any of the moderators here in LA so that we can work together getting a fund set up to donate to? He does deserve one and so do the fans. Don't worry about questionable stars who have one, that doesn't diminish his star. People walk by stars to get to the ones they want to admire all the time.
