a few months ago i would have said Michael Jackson's fans are more on the crazy side..i mean i have seen some real crazy posts from fans defending MJ on everything he does and really getting offended by the slightest negative comments but recently it seems Prince's fans have been really gaining ground on the wacked out scale with people saying "Prince prays for me" and people getting all nuts because somebody said something negative about Te Amo Sleepazon..i still would say MJ's fans are winning but the onslaught of crazy Prince fans are catching up rapidly! smile

You just insulted everybody on the ORG sad . Prince fans are just that-HIS FANS. Were not wacked out sad . As for MJ, even though his fans can be a bit over-zealous when it comes to THE KING OF POP, there still just his fans and fans deserve alot more respect than just to be considered as crazy, wacked out FANATICS. There is a difference you know wink .

Most of his internet fans act crazy and whacked out though.

From my experiences on various message boards for various artists, I'd say that the hardcore fans - that, like, 10% of people who are ready to die the second their favorite artist does - are just all the same level of "whacked-out"-ness.

MJ fans often buy into their idol's "childlike" bit and tend to be, like him, extremely sensitive. If you criticize MJ, some of them act like you kicked a puppy.

MJ fans are definately more wacked out. Prince fans appreciate the art form of
musicial talent more than MJ fans obviously because MJ doesn't know a musical instrument from his child molesting jesus juice.

That's like comparing Pauly Shores acting abilities to Tom Hanks.

I actually went to Michael's trial a few days..even went in court. For me, I wanted to go for two reasons:

1)To support my favorite singer/entertainer whom I believe was being wrongfully put through hell by an evil DA. mad

2)Because I worried that Michael might go to jail, and I didn't think he would have survived that, so I wanted to know, if that did happen, I got to see him before it, with my own two eyes. It kind of depressed me, to think a man who has done so much with me through his music, his dancing and just his being, I had never even seen with my own two eyes, only through pictures and video cameras filtered to my TV.

While I was there, yes there were some nutty fans, I am not going to lie. However, most of the people I had the pleasure of meeting were really nice. The media only liked to show the 'crazies" to make Michael look worse.

I normally get pissed when people blame the "media" for stuff, but this isn't a cop out. Sorry. I was there.

For you to act like that for an entertainer is pathetic.

hug Nice post. Don' let anyone else make you feel bad bout it. I totally understand where you are coming from. I'm not as much of a MJ fan as I was back in the day, but if I could have been there for him to show my support, I would have. I was born and raised on this man's music. His music is part of my life.
I used to get into playful arguements with co-workers every day of the trial because I defended Michael, and everyone else I worked with thought that he was guilty.( I'm a police officer, so believe me, everyoneI worked with thought he was guilty. lol) They used to call me crazy and tell me that I should become a defense attorney. But in the end, I got the last laugh. I went around he department yelling "Not guilty" to everyone. lol

I think it's nice that you were there for him during the most trying time of his life.

I think that every successful artist/movie/book/tv show has a section of fans who love their particular thing at an unhealthy level. That's why comic book conventions are so popular. Prince and MJ (both being huge stars globally for over 20 year) each have their share of scary fans. Hell, I consider myself a hardcore Prince freak, but I ain't dressing like him and flying across the globe to MPLS to cry at the Excel when he plays "Purple Rain".

you want some evidence as to whose fans are more crazy? Check out this link:

There are some Elvis fans that are crazy as hell. All the "Elvis sightings", the plates with pictures of Elvis on them, the Elvis impersonators, etc. Some of these people swear that Elvis is still alive and faked his death.

A lot of Tupac fans are crazy as hell too. Like Elvis fans, many of them swear he's alive because albums have come out after his death. Well duh...ever heard of unreleased material that was recorded years earlier? lol So many of them think he was an absolute musical genius, yet his music consisted of samples (someone's else's music) over a midtempo beat and he never sang a note. This is supposed to be a musical genius though. lol If you say one negative thing about him, they will cuss you out in the same low class thug manner that the man lived his life. Actually some of his fans are crazier than Elvis fans because the man glorified violence and so many of them eat that shit up. Just watch, one of them will probably come in spouting off and raising hell any minute now. lol

Then you should stay at home and enjoy the music or go to his concerts when he's in town.

He doesn't need you to go to court. That's what his family and friends (IE not you) are there for.

You don't know him personally, so stop acting like he's some family figure you need to support.

PurpleKnight: A question 4 U

I understand that you feel jasonstar's behavior towards MJ is pathetic. Let me ask you this- how is that different from the fans that went to NY when Lennon was shot in 1980 to cry, light candles, and sing? How is it different from Courtney Love having hundreds of Nirvana fans show up at her doorstep when Kurt Cobain died? How is it different from Elvis' fans dropping by Graceland in droves every year during his birthday and the day he died? Just curious what your thoughts are.

To me, seeing a bunch of MJ fans hanging out at court isn't a lot different than some of the extremes that fans of other rock stars go to.....

I think the difference is none of those artists you mentioned, were on trial for child molestaion, none of those people got their skinned whitened, hung out with little boys, slept with little boys in his bed and thought it was "ok", had animals all over his house, created Disneyland on his fuckin' property, hung out with a fuckin' chimp named Bubbles, had 4,976 nose jobs, tried to make themselves look like Peter fuckin' Pan, and thinks that they are STILL a child...basically, none of those artists were as fucked up in the head as MJ is.

There. I HOPE that explains the differences between THOSE FANS and MJ FANS.

But he could still be all those things, and MEAN just as much, if not more to his fans. The same you want his fans to accept he is weird, you need to accept, your taste in what is good in music isn't objective. It is subjective, and there are people (tons) who think Michael is innocent and THE KING OF POP! Beyond that, I bet tons more people supported MJ than would support anyone else if they were on trial. Do you see flocks of fans at Phil Spectors trial? How about R. Kelly? NOPE

And see, your answer is EXACTLY why my stance is what it is. To you, Mike can do NO WRONG...even if it were YOUR little brother that he slept in the bed with. And THAT'S scary - THAT'S where you have to wonder about the mental unstableness of most of his fans.
