I don't blame you. That's a big reason why I didn't try to see about getting tickets to see the show. I'll be home taping it instead, unless Prince decides to do an aftershow pray

if snl was still as funny as it was back when prince first made an appearance on it back in '81, then perhaps i'd watch it in its entirety. but the show's been on its last legs for so long now...saddening thing, really.

thank gawd for teh internets so i'll be able to cut to the chase! pc

But isn't it likely that he will be on towards the end of the show? Could just tune in the last 15 minutes, no?

depends on if he performs more than one song--usually the musical guests perform around 2 songs or so during the program. dunno what ol' boy's planning on doing, so it'll be tricky to find out exactly when to tune in.

It really is saddening. Even a few years ago it was quite good but once Will Ferrel left, I was done. Even in taping it, I'll be doing something else. SNL is VERY painful to watch.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Is the show still popular, though? How many people might see Prince?

So Prince will be performing 3 songs?
Usually musical guests perform twice.
I guess because this is the only live show in february, that their allowing Prince to do his thang more than 2 x's, which is great...I can't wait!

I don't think I'll be out in the streets tonight either, I'll be home jamming to Prince!

Depends who the guests are, for instance, last time U2 were on SNL promoting the release of 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb', they played 3 or 4 songs. But as the main post states, even IF those three songs are played (and none of us will know for sure until it happens anyway) there is no guarantee that they'll all be aired (U2 kept playing after the credits rolled being the example here).

Until it airs, consider everything T.B.C!

Still, the prospect is exciting, no? big grin

LATEST NEWS?
As of saturday morning, the latest 'rumblings' are that our little man has the following tracks prepped and ready to unleash on SNL:

'Black Sweat',

'Te Amo Corozon',

'Vibe'

- whether all of these are aired (or indeed, played) however, is another matter. Until it actually happens, consider everything 'T.B.C.'

How do you know this?
Anyway, another new song. Good! Although of course I'm aching to see him do 'Black Sweat'. Would makes sense too, since it's the single. But that's Prince for you!

I tried to watch it recently, after chuckling at the "Lazy Sunday"/"Chrismastime for the Jews" emailed links. Unfortunately, the episode I saw was as bad as I'd remembered. I don't know who thinks a pirate sketch where people say "Peter Sarrrrrsgard" over and over again is funny.

I'm right there with you. Even though I was lucky enough to go to the Tamar gig on Thursday I really want a Prince aftershow that I get into. pray

I'll throw this "rumor" I read into the mix:
-Fred Armison was at Nokia Theater Thursday night and someone asked him about the Prince Show skit he said something to the effect of "I'm going to try."

Also I've seen banners on HQ or NPG that are advertising the performance as Prince with Tamar. If that's true then I think one song will definetly be Beautiful Loved & Blessed.

t-minus 8.5 hours and counting!

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Thanks for the reminder man. I've got to be at work early in the morning but I will give up a few hours sleep to check it out. The only way Prince could surprise me at this point is if he brought out the Revolution(Lisa, Matt, Wendy, Bobby and Mark) to back him up. I'm gonna take a wild guess and predict that his surprise is going to be Tamar joining him for a duet.

Here's the thing....There are a lot of charlatans on this site...Then there are folks who truly know what they are talking about...But some of these people have learned that if you unleash any kind of late-breaking news on our boy, only three things can happen: Complete mockery from fellow orgers (like yourself, LOL); crazed fanatical reaction; or complete shut-down of a post from some of the more dictator-like moderators (LOL)....read into as you like...Cool?

What U Talkin Bout Gooch? I think a reunion with Wendy and Lisa would be phenomenal. I think a lot of people would care. I know I would.

A reunion with the Revolution would be sweet, but considering most of them look like junior high science teachers now and they were never the most technically proficient band in the world even in their prime, i think this would be more of a moment for the hardcore fans than for a national television audience which overwhelmingly would not appreciate the occasion. I think the members of the Revolution have grown as musicians since the '80s, but they haven't grown in the same direction as Prince. A reunion, I think, would be awkward at best.

I hope they don't reunite on SNL tonight, unless it's just a matter of, say, Wendy and/or Lisa sitting in with a minimum of fanfare.
