HOW will* Prince capitalize on the surging gay profiteering in the media?

The big thing now is gay movies, gay tv
gay music. There's a large audience that he hasn't tapped into.

*Assuming U think he hasn't already.

He dont NEED to do anything he dont want to.

But if he wants to generate extreme interest (not that he should) then that is his untapped market.

Maybe he doesn't want "lavish" attendees at his 3121 pad.

this is just me talking for myself here, so here goes: as a gay person, i really don't need 'im pandering to me. i know he exists and i listen to his stuff, but he really doesn't have/need to try and tap into the gay marketplace to get our money or what-not. he's famous enough to where pretty much everyone knows who he is, gay or straight or whichever way people choose to swing, and get his ducketts.

it may not be as tapped a market as, say, madonna or cher or the other well-known/-loved gay musical icons, but we're here and we patronize 'im well.

Well said. I think that Prince really shouldn't be pandering to anything. Of course, he has to to some extent (he wants to sell records). However, I think Prince is at his best when he just does what he feels, not what he thinks will sell to certain people.

that's one of the things i dig about 'im, that he's not the kinda person to cater to just one group of people and does what he wants (even though sometimes what he wants to do is fucked up lol).

I didn't know there was such a thing as gay music. Gay clubs have always taken certain styles of music and made them their own before the music was mainstream. In the past there has been disco. I don't know exactly where it started but I have heard that it was huge in the gay clubs. I still hear a disco song in gay clubs every now and then to this very day. Then there was house music which began in Chicago. It wasn't aimed at gay people but they picked it up in the clubs and made it their own. From what I've seen in the last few years, it's been techno.

Prince has done "I Wanna Be Your Lover" which was disco. He's also done several songs in the 1990s that should have been played in gay clubs but weren't such as "Loose", "New World", "The Human Body", etc. I know when I DJ'd for a little while in a club in 1994, I tried to get the manager to see if he could find a vinyl copy of the "Come" album so I could play "Loose". I played the song for him one night after we closed and he said the people would never like it because of the heavy guitar in it. Knowing that particular crowd, I think he's right. However, I bet if I took it over to the white gay club, they would have loved it because I heard similar type music in there. I know a song a few years later like "New World" or "Human Body" would have done well but no one ever played them.

Prince shouldn't pander to anyone or any group. I think that his music should be promoted more in the gay areas. I don't know if Prince or the labels have the final say in that. Based on the clubs I've been to. I believe the gay clubs would play "Black Sweat" easy and that would be great.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I know it was said but Prince doesn't really need the gay community for him to have success, wheras Madonna and Cher would be lost without it. He's never really had success becoming an icon to the community, which is a shame because as a gay person, i feel he represents me well.

Even Britney is relying on the gay community to advance herself these days. It's crazy how one minute you're a teen queen and next minute you're a fag hag.

He could do an episode of Queer Eye. They'd walk in for like 5 min, look around and decide there's not much that needs done, and leave.

It's always interesting to see how people react to questions involving sexual preference and race.
