The Sun Newspaper Hates Prince.....

This is what the Sun Newspaper had to say about him today.....

Prince is a purple pain
FORMER superstar PRINCE needs a reality check.

Forget The Artist Formerly Known As — I’m now calling him The Artist Formerly Known.

The tiny singer arrived in London yesterday for The Brits amid massive secrecy — still labouring under the illusion that anyone cares about him.

Prince has flown in to possibly play at tomorrow night’s big event at Earls Court — if he fancies it, that is. Organisers are still waiting to hear if he’ll lower himself to perform.

They’ve had to leave a blank space in the running order while they wait for his decision.

Everyone else — including KANYE WEST, COLDPLAY and JAMES BLUNT — has been preparing their sets for weeks.

I’m amazed Brits bosses are willing to jump through hoops for him.

Of course 1984’s Purple Rain was genius but Prince’s big head now overshadows any talent he once had.

His last hit was a re-release of 1999 — back in 1999. Before that he got to No33 with Purple Medley in 1995.

Prince has always been full of himself but yesterday’s antics reached new levels of arrogance.

The musical midget flew into Heathrow and insisted on having decoy cars driving off to throw the fans off the trail.

The trouble was, I’m not aware of anyone turning up to see him.

The driver of his actual car was ordered not to look at him in the rear-view mirror — because it would make the pretentious Prince feel uncomfortable.

He also had various hotels on stand-by so he could avoid these imaginary fans he believed would be screaming for his autograph.

A source told me: “Prince had rooms booked at The Metropolitan Hotel, The Royal Garden in Kensington and The Dorchester.

“He had a greeting party waiting at The Royal Garden at 3.30pm — the hotel pulled out all the stops.

“He planned to sweep into a car park and wait there until the paparazzi had gone away.

“But there were no photographers waiting at all.

“He then got cold feet and made a last-minute decision to go to The Dorchester.

“He messed a lot of people around. I don’t know who he thinks he is.”

Just in case you do fancy a sighting of Prince — he’s the little bloke staying at The Dorchester and acting like royalty.

These b4stards make me sick!!!!!

The Sun do that kind of thing.
Before Michael Barrymore went into the Big Brother house they were slamming him.
Then when he came out they were kissing right up his ass, i felt embarrased for them.
Wait till Thursday morning and they will be praising him at how great his set was.....tossers.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

I thought the Brits were only down on their own...

Anyway, they have a thing about people who get too big for their britches, and I suppose they are qualifying Prince as one of the above.

How dare he call himself "Prince" anyway! mad (no matter that it is his real name)... The real "prince" is that floppy-eared fellow... smile

im tempted to mail the silly cow.
I wonder if the fact that Prince managed to elude The Suns reporters is the reason for such a terrible article.

Phew - I was just about to log in and type that whole piece out myself - glad somebody beat me to it! biggrin

This article really annoyed me this morning. Victoria Newton is known for writing things like this, and being wrong about most things most of the time. Basically in her eyes if you're not Robbie Williams you're nobody (witness her little bit on the page today where she says even though he's not up for any awards he's still the king of the Brits as he's won more awards than anybody else - even though some of those were for Take That. And her point is...?)

We have a nickname for Victoria Newton in our house: "That stupid b**ch." It seems to go quite well.

Clearly they sent a reporter to cover Prince's arrival - so that at the very least shows that THEY think he's still important, even though they deny it. You can tell they were simply annoyed that Prince diffused the situation and avoided the paparazzi.

SUN NEWSPAPER PROTEST

I have just sent 2 e-mails to 'The Sun' newspaper complaining about their article on Prince in todays edition. If you would like to do the same, particularly pointing out the incorrect details regarding Prince's recent successes I urge you to do so.

Perhaps if enough of us write, they will sit up and take notice. Below is the e-mail I have sent:

To: letters@the-sun.co.uk

Subject: PRINCE

Dear Letters,

Before attacking Prince in what is obviously a biased and opinionated (and probably false) article, you should at least bother to get your facts right concerning his recent successes.

His last UK hit was not '1999' in 1999 as you claimed, but in 2004 when his 'Musicology' album reached number 3 in the UK albums chart. The worldwide sales of 'Musicology' currently exceed double platinum.

In 2004 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame and had the highest grossing US tour of 2004 earning over $84 million dollars.

His last UK tour in 2002 was a sell-out. His next UK tour is highly anticipated, as is his new album '3121' released by Universal in march.

Clearly people are still interested in Prince, much more interested than you are in getting your facts right.

Yours

That is sad (but not quite true, I know). Unfortunately, there is a bit of truth in this article, is there not??? I found it rather funny, actually.

1) Heiress is an american girl living in France.

2) She was talking about the brit awards.

3) It is so easy to slag someone like you. lol

Some feedback I've had:

Any e-mails to this address with subject titles including the words 'PRINCE' or 'VICTORIA' (the writer of the article) are now being BLOCKED at the above address.

Instead, leave the e-mail untitled or just put '...' etc and the e-mail is accepted.

I don't see that there are any really incorrect details in that article to complain about - before the 1999 re-issue, the last hit under Prince's name IS The Purple Medley. He had some minor hits inbetween under his Symbol name, but technically the Sun is right...

Whether he is a FORMER superstar or not is not really a detail, it is an opinion.
