3121 promotion (Who will join me?)

the 3121 reviews have been awesome, the album is set to be a classic (Can't wait for fury. I will start heavely promoting 3121 from the 10th of March. TO ensure that the songs get the airplay and success they deserve... anyone care to join me?

With the propper promotion 3121 will put prince back on the map. Currently 50% of 10 - 16 year olds don't know who Prince is. We can change this and introduce P 2 a whole new generation through 3121.

On the 10th of march i will post a host of phone numbers and e-mail adresses for varius radio station we can call/e-mail to get 3121 airplay!

Thanks, cool

"3121 is the forthcoming album from Prince. Relleased March 21st 2006. Featuring the modern classics "Fury" and "Black Sweat". We all saw Prince at the Brit awards on Wednesday, and it was a shocking reminder of what a gifted performer he realy is! Please give the new album a mention on your show. Thanks.

hmmm Prince.org and other website filled with 10-14 year olds?

Are you Micheal Jackson?

Because to me that sounds like a drag.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

I kind of doubt that, as much as he isnt popular he's known as that freak who changed to a squiggle and made the song 'kiss'.

But i agree, seen as though Radio 1 have been playing Black Sweat quite a bit, probably best to keep sending in requests for it - as we know they ARE going to play it.

Would be a waste of time, as it wouldnt do much if anything for the sales of the album.

That is not true, MJ's waky fans managed to get the single "cry" into the top ten single handedly. (Sony gave the song VERY little promotion)

smile I agree, but I think Universal is the one in the driver's seat on this one. The listening parties and other marketing efforts seem smart so far (with the biggest blunder being not getting the latest two singles on iTunes right away), the two live performances at the Brits and SNL were great, and they've got the connections to really make a difference on radio and video stations.

As a fan, I'll buy the album, will tell friends about it, etc. Albums like The Rainbow Children, ONA Live and even some of his internet releases are more suited in my mind to a grass-roots marketing effort by fans.

Sure seems like this is the first time since, oh, maybe Diamonds and Pearls and the 0(+> album that Prince has put out two radio-friendly albums in a row. Should be an interesting year.

Seriously, I've enjoyed your posts and your enthusiasm and your perspective as a relatively "young" fan...reminds of when I was 15 and tried to get everyone in Indiana off their asses to understand how brilliant Lovesexy was. I may have accounted for about 2.5% of that album's sales in the U.S. alone...and had a ton of friends PISSED when they put the CD in their giant home stereo (back when CDs were a new thing) and couldn't understand why it wasn't tracked.

"This is worse than a cassette, for crying out loud!"

Not tracking Lovesexy is IMO the biggest blunder Prince ever made...

"A Classic"??? it'll take a looooong time before it becomes a "classic" album this album is strictly for the mass of whiners. this album isnt something that Prince wants to do. this is strictly something for the cash. if the heart aint in it,then whats the use.

That chart is downright disgraceful. The song is still brand new so we should have a little more patience but with that said, Universal needs to do more to get this song out there. This song needs to be EVERYWHERE and I we need to be forceful with Universal to do their job. GoldenGlove sent out these e-mail adresses a week or two ago and I want to repost them here so that we can contact these people:

communications@umusic.com - for the US
communications2@umusic.com - for the UK

You need to get your voice out there and make Universal hear you and what you want concerning Prince and the promotion of 3121. I've e-mailed them twice and if I need to I'll e-mail them again. Lets come together and make 3121 a smash!

Just emailed. Here's what I sent:

I was thrilled when I heard that Prince had signed with Uni to release "3121" because I believed you could get him the one thing that was missing from his 2004 "comeback" -- a hit single.

In my opinion, Prince has kept up his end of the deal. "Black Sweat" is his most marketable song in a long while, yet it seems to be wilting on the vine. Step it up, folks. You are the largest label in the biz, leverage some favors/increase the pressure on PDs/whatever needs to be done and get this song on the radio!

When your execs first announced the deal for "3121," they stated that the project was a priority for Universal. I'd love to see evidence of it reflected on the singles charts.

Thanks for your time,

David XXXXX

And i just sent this to universal twice.

"3121 is shaping up to be Prince's most marketable album since 1995's "The gold experience" SOngs such as "Black Sweat" and especialy "Fury" stand a HUGE chance of being HUGE hits on both sides of the border... however, there is just
one problem...

PROMOTION.

If the album "3121" was given propper promiton i think it has the chance to be a huge hit. Let's face it, the album is far better than anything "Usher" or "The black eyed peas" are putting out. All it needs is the propper promotion and u have yourselves a HUGE hit!

Thanks 4 ur time,

GG"
