What a crock of shit. What a scam.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
You have those internalized issues because you want to, you like to, stop.

So far, none of the people that were actually there have posted anything negative about the experience. Only people that weren't there. lol

biggrin Anx, your my favorite person here because your a BALANCED individual. OK not everyone, but the mass majority!

is that better!?

But don't you find that : "I am dissapointed that the winners: didn't get one one one time, said hello, had a better setlist, didnt get a tour, didnt get to lick his guitar" etc etc

is just unrealistic? the prize says: win a chance to see prince perform at his home. it doesnt say win a chance to sit on his lap and discuss the 4th dimension does it?

they won a prize it was delivered that is that.

I think the winners were not disappointed. at least 2 people i knew said it was fantastic. good for them and to the rest....

save up 312 dollars and be disappointed in person!

smile

i would NOT say that a "mass majority" of people on the org have this attitude. i would agree with you if you said a CONTINGENT of folks on here have this opinion, but there are people on here who will complain about ANYTHING prince does, no matter what.

there is also a contingent of people on here who will praise and defend ANYTHING prince does, no matter how silly or dodgy or half-baked. if prince went on a tri-state killing spree? "oh, well you people clearly don't understand what it's like to be an artist. prince has so many pressures, he should have the RIGHT to go on a mass killing spree! don't be a hater!"

but there are more of us "balanced" folks than it may appear. the reason it looks like there are so few of us is because our comments don't jump out with polarizing, crude, all-or-nothing spectacle and sensationalism. in other words, it's boring to be balanced. lol

i think the reason you see the extreme points of view on the org more than anywhere else is because this site has a history of being relatively relaxed in what people are allowed to say about prince and his output. given that track record, plus being one of the oldest and most popular prince fan sites on the intrawebs, you're going to have a BIG spectrum of opinions and points of view.

but no, i don't think the "prince shoulda/prince oughtta" gang comprises the MAJORITY of the users on this site, and certainly not the org regulars and the long time fans...we already know how things go in princeworld. we got all our complaining out of our systems years ago. smile

No you are complaining. I do a lot of posting while I am at work. So am sorry the credit got knocked off. I am pretty sure most people at this site are capable of going to HQ and finding out who wrote the report and since the fans at HQ are chill I doubt the person who wrote the reports minds.

It's great that he let any fans into his house. Could he have done more, sure but for God sake the people who went had a great time and I'm very happy for them. Simple as that.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I guess it seems so overwhelming and everyone is raining on the winner's parade.

I do appreciate this forum, I am into Prince and his music, but I work in that world so taking things personally isn't an issue for me. I either like the music or I don't but I dont really see the point in complaining. Its wasted energy that could be applied towards something more constructive hell if I know what that is, but surely bitching and moaning only creates distance not intimacy. I broke up with my last girlfriend for that reason!

Karma is a bitch. The more you complain about something, the more likely it will happen to your naggin' ass.

Prince is just a musician. Brilliant, whether in moments or in split second riffs, he is a guy that creates. I don't create. I'm technical and work in that world as part of the process but the inception. I recognize my role for what is and we as fans should do the same.]

I dont think Prince is the end all be all and I don't think think he's a rainbow child. more like a lucky leperchaun but whatever. Constructive critcism and whining are two different things. Thats all I meant to say.\\

Either way, I like to hear both sides of the story. Even if the other side occasionally tax my nerves.

PS. I once saw Prince in the hallway at my work and I said hey. He nodded in return. I never once said he wasnt too good to utter a HI to me. HAHAHAHAHAHAH

responding to a few points:

*3121 is the sickness-unto-death live. my only beef is that he didn't open with it! black sweat actually works very very well too, despite being reconfigured just a bit to make room for the band. you'll see what i mean when the tour reports start rolling in. let's see... lolita, which bores me on record, is a barnburner live. more details on the setlist if i get the time...

*there were plenty of 'ordinary fans' present. because there was no cordoning-off of the vip's from contest winners, however, the usually impenetrable 'hollywood' vibe at these events was sort of broken down. winners weren't visibly identifiable, so everyone just hung out as they saw fit. also: passing resemblance to a motion picture celebrity earned one some interesting conversational gambits!

*concerning remarks that "the event seemed really controlled"...let's recap. 50+ fans were set loose in prince's home, fed, and got drunk on his dime. he played about 2 hours of live material for a crowd that also included numerous celebrities. apart from the usual restrictions on camera/recording equipment, there was very little in the way of rules. smoking was permitted on the veranda, most areas of the house were open to wanderers, no limit on the number of '3121' gold stamped napkins one could pocket, etc.

*for those of you complaining that prince didn't 'meet' the winners...how precisely do you envision this working? a big line-up for handshakes? the event, as pitched to the contest winners, was meant to be an opportunity for the much bemoaned about 'ordinary fan' to enjoy a private, exclusive l.a. party/gig of the type reported about on npgmc over the last few months. this is exactly what transpired.

plz air more complaints, this is fun.

I am glad for the winners too. God knows I bought several copies of the cd's and called them "gifts" to those people I gave the opened cd to. I also sent postcards in "from" everyone who's address I could think of. It wasn't in the cards for The Kid.

And on another note--if you can afford $70,000 a month in rent, don't you think the man could turn on a little AIR CONDITIONING???? The poster keeps talking about how warm it was in the performance room. . .I'm just flashing waaay back to a couple of nights hanging at Glam Slam Minneapolis and almost fainting from heat stroke, it was so hot in there cooked. And that Celebration when the air conditioning went out. . .sick

O.K., that was totally irrelevant wacky, but I'm glad for the winners! Interesting mix of celebrities, BTW.

You've highlighted the point perfectly there Laura in "you doubt they mind".

The vast majority of votes are about YOUR requirements, YOUR feelings and what YOU feel is the right thing to do. You're often dismissing others opinons in favour of what YOU feel is right.

It's difficult to gauge someone 100% from their online persona but you really come across as a selfish & bigotted person on here, I do hope that's not true and you do think about others BEFORE you type.

Why don't some of you go over to HQ and read a little on your own. None of the people who went are complaining. You guys are unreal somethings with the non-stop bitch fest.

Who wants to go to a concert with a total of six people? I think it is great they got to mingle with celebs.

I hear ya! I've been wondering why in the hell people would even think that it was going to ONLY be the contest winners, I figured all along this was exactly how it would be. It's not like it was an open invitation to anyone walking the street. I'd sure as hell still consider it 'intimate' with the location and small crowd.

As for having 'contact' with the winners, I doubt he has much 'contact' with most of the celebs that are there either. He's hardly a 'meet and greet' kinda guy. You're there to enjoy his music not discuss the weather for cripes sake! confused
