Not Faiyuh: Prince's tantrum in "The Dance"

Since March 21, I've been laughing at what I call The Tantrum.

Not just laughing.

Rolling, actually.

You know the one. On "The Dance," right near the end. Immediately following Prince's resurrection of the "Oh, baby, baby, baby, baby!"

From 5:10 to about 5:13, our boy Prince -- "The Man," as we often call him on this board -- lets loose with the most sissified, Southern denunciation of injustice heard since the demise of "Designing Women."

"IT'S JUST NOT FAIYUH!!! IT'S JUST NOT FAIYUH!!!" fit

The Tantrum inspires us, when we hear it, to join along in mock outrage. To pound our steering wheels during our morning commutes.

Prince is from the Midwest and speaks in a nasally baritone. But, he tears into The Tantrum with such camp and Southern scorn, though, I'm reminded of two people whenever I hear it.

Katt Williams' Money Mike character in "Friday After Next" though he seemed to be channeling Prince pretty hard in that flick.

and, even more random, The Lady Chablis from "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."

The Tantrum puts Prince in fine company, indeed. Let's hope the next album features equally entertaining moments.

And, they said his sense of humor was gone...

I thought this was going to be about some obscure Indian musician linked to Prince's song. "Oooh, I've never heard of Not Faiyuh! I'll have to look for some of his CDs!"

Thing is, I'm not trying to be funny. redface

That's what makes it so hilarious.

I know you can't control precipitation, but could you use some of your ex-mod magic and move this to the right forum?

Thanks.

No, I think he went over the top. Was it deliberate or an affectation? I'm still not sure.

I've heard many people imitate that part, but never really thought of it as funny. That whole ending makes me hot.

I have to say when I finally understood the title of this thread it literally made me LOL lol

Yes, the ending still makes me giggle at times BUT I'm so used to it now that I just go w/ it smile I really couldn't get past it the first few listens though, I was like whofarted falloff It was SO over the top, but that's the essence of the entire song - it's wrought with emotion & so grand it makes Liberace seem demure lol I fucking love it worship

Can you imagine the frame of mind he has to be in before he records? GAWD I'd love to see him lay down just ONE track, it would be mindblowing disbelief
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

I bet he had a picture of this woman who'd done him wrong with him at the studio console. As he cut those vocals, he probably was pissed .
