PRINCE A VEGAS ACT???

How do you feel about Prince becoming a Las Vegas act, do you feel it's a good or bad career move? I feel thats the sign of becoming a "Has Been Entertainer"
His name up in lights with the likes of " Wayne Newton, Celine Dion and those dudes who sometime get attacked by Big White Tigers in Vegas and those other cheesy Vegas acts from the past and present, it's sad to see this from a guy who was rebel , a pioneer of music in the 80's, become this. Next he'll be on the "Surreal Life" with Joe Millionaire and Tom Green ,at least have some type of honor if not for yourself have if for you fans!!!

Vegas is changing.....here is more proof....

Rap superstar Snoop Dogg is convinced hip-hop stars are the Rat Pack of the future and will dominate Las Vegas music culture.

The Gin And Juice star hopes rappers will take over from the Las Vegas collective's original crooners Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford.

And Dogg is so fearless about his standing in the future of music, predicting his Las Vegas-themed plans will offer him a lucrative retirement.

He says, "I feel like my music is going to take that turn where I'll be able to go to Vegas when I'm 50."

"I'm gonna get me a new Rat Pack, go gangsta like Frank Sinatra."

Let me ask you something. Ain't no show like a Prince show right? Why are you comparing him to those other cheesy acts? You know Prince does not do cheesy acts so what exactly is the problem?

Did you read the reviews from the May show in Vegas. They were overwhelmingly positive right so why would anyone predict doom because of this move? We had folks saying they had the time of their lives.

So again, what is the problem? I'm just asking based on how much you know Prince brings it when it comes to live performances.

As long as it's not permanant I'm okay with it, but he's still got fans in other countries who want to see him again. I don't think he can stay in one place long at least I hope not.

Well, while he is selling himself "CHEAP" at a packed house of fans who are having the time of their lives, you can continue to sit herw and babble on and on and on and on and on about the Prince of "cheese".

That would all be fine...and I would agree with you...Except for the fact that Las Vegas has changed since the days of fat Elvis...As a matter of fact, when you have the remaining Beatles peddling their songs on a Las Vegas circus show then you know it's a different ballgame...And if the beloved, classy Beatles can do that shit, what makes you think Prince is above it?...

It's just my opinion, just a opinion. but i feel that Vegas acts are Cheesy E. but riddle me this what Vegas act is not whack or played?? I could see if my man would had just faded away from music, which would had been sad and unfortunate, but still he could've keep his honor and prestige!!! but like i said " it just my opinion"

I understand. I just figured since the Vegas show back in May got such good reviews, the show he'll setup will be good, but only time will tell.

I don't know what it will do to his career, but for me Las Vegas is out of reach. I don't like the idea of him becoming a Vegas act.

i'm having a hard time dealing with prince's fetish for las vegas. i mean ultimately, it's his life and his career and who really gives a shit, but as much as i love seeing him live and would go out of my way for a great prince concert experience, i just can't see strapping on a fanny pack and a sun visor and trundling my plastic tumbler of quarters into the parisian room, to have prince tell me to try the lasagna and tip the waitresses. the thought of it...it's just not funky. disbelief

I don't have a problem with it, as long as it's not permanent. It's something different for him. It wouldn't surprise me if he uses these gigs as a "warm-up" for a larger tour - kinda like the old Paisley Park gigs.
