sigh Saw that too. Makes me wonder why that station was pulled. It was a great steady stream of Prince 24/7. VH1.com has a Prince station and there's a few others.

Went to VH1.com radio and could not find the station. I was thinking of writing aol radio and asking why they pulled it. It might be a regular thing because I used to listen to the all Billie Holiday station (miss that one too...), and they pulled that too. Maybe they just change out stations periodically? I don't know.

The bootleg stuff was awhile ago. I hadn't heard them play any unreleased stuff for quite sometime. That sucks the station disappeared...I listened to it fairly frequently. Maybe they felt like there wasn't enough interest...

No, they were playing boots again. I asked a question this week about a song that Langebleu told me was a boot. It was identified as "Alphabet Street Blues" and they had a live version of "Shh" that I never heard before. It showed both song as part of the respective albums that they orginated from. However, we all know that they weren't on the original albums.
I for one am very sad that it's gone. neutral

that's exactly what i remember reading about recent bootleggage on that station. an AOL radio station isn't exactly a low profile forum, that kinda stuff is gonna get nabbed sooner or later. sad

Here was the response I received from AOL Radio sigh :

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to the AOL Radio Team.

Unfortunately, we are only allowed to carry 70 XM stations at a time. And because XM has hundreds of exciting stations, we like to rotate some of them in and out, to see which ones AOL members enjoy the most. So, while All Prince is no longer on AOL Radio at this time, we're very glad to hear that you'd like to have it back! We'll keep that in mind when requesting stations from XM next month. And in the meantime, we hope you'll check out “Funk” which is found under the R&B/Soul Heading on your AOL Radio player. We think you'll like it just as much!

Thanks for listening, and please keep in touch.

Sincerely,

the AOL Radio Team

Got the same generic response. Perhaps if they get enough of them, they may bring it back. However, I think the Paisley police shut it down! sigh

Seems some people have received a response saying that the rights had expired and Prince's management chose not to renew them.

Yes, I received an additional e-mail that said:

Hello,

Thanks for writing to the AOL Radio Team about our All Prince station. We are very sorry that we had to take it down. Special rights needed to air the station expired, and Prince's management company chose against renewing those rights. So, of course, we had to honor the Purple One's wishes!

In the absence of All Prince, we do hope you'll check out our Top R&B, 90s R&B, XM 80s and Top Jams channels, where you'll hear all of Prince's greatest hits.

We appreciate and value your comments. Thank you again for taking the time to send your email. We hope you’ll keep listening and keep in touch!

Sincerely,

The AOL Radio Team

sigh

Not that the other radio stations mentioned here aren't good, but it was just convenient to listen to Prince while reading my e-mail in AOL. Oh, well.

I've made the switch to Live 365 and I think I like it better than the aol one. biggrin They play a lot more variety. The only thing I don't like is they have these really annoying breaks where they play Beavis & Butthead and Sam Kinneson clips. I always have to hurry and turn the speakers down when those come on...

cool

Get sign up with Pandora Internet Radio service. It's free!!!

After that, just type "Prince" as the radio name and you're all set.

hmph!
It's not the same.
AOL's station was ALL Prince.
Pandora starts veering off into other artists that it thinks you might like.
I'll take Yahoo Music (also free) before Pandora.
