The Artist Formely Known as Prince vs Prince

I saw the the one that said prince vs prince...and I thought hmm...how about this one.

I actually liked both eras in a way. I have to say Emancipation was a good album in 96. I loved Controversy in the early 80s. I have to say Prince wins my vote. But I also like the Artist...hmm...what do you guys think?
Soul mate-One of two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or sensitivity.

Friend-A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.

Couldn't help but take a peek at this one.

You know I can't choose a favorite, both just different flavors of what turns out to be very delicious ice-cream.

Actually it should be Prince pre symbol vs Symbol vs Prince post symbol

the pre symbol prince obviously destroys the symbol and post. We're talking about one of the most remarkable periods of creativity in the history of rock music. It is on par with the legendary prolific artistic periods- the beatles. I believe prince's run from 1980-1989 (batman album first backwards step) is second only to the beatles run. Included in this is all the brilliant side work he did- time, jill jones, family, sheila e and the b sides.
So it's a race for second place. While symbol gets high honors for gold- that period is mared by the lack of focus due to the record company junk...it affected his output. I perfor the more consistent work of the post symbol era even if it lacks the ultimate high of gold...push aside some of the weirdness of TRC and it's pretty close to gold.

Definitely Prince, only because I haven't spent enough time with TAFKAP. He's a little "out there" for me, almost like he's from a diff. planet.

Sorry if this comes out the wrong way. I really dont know enough about the opposition to know for sure... but I gotta go with what I know more about. I'm spending more time in the present right now, so I can't even compare current Prince to 80's Prince.

I just know that current Prince is a little more laid-back, wiser, and more humble. 80's Prince was a sparkplug and a little more cocky.
had 2 run away... pride was 2 strong. It started raining, baby, the birds were gone

Since it is the same person we are talking about here, I adore both.

Prince pre-symbol years.

Though I loved much of the early 90's prince material, he was never able to produce anything as interesting as his 80's recordings.

I like the post-symbol Prince too just because he's courting pop music again, but again--none of the material is as interesting to me as the 80's material.
