Gifts 2 Prince

Don't hurt me boxed but I wanted to ask you guys if any of you have ever taken anything to a Prince concert, show, etc. and given it to him? hmmm You know flowers, stuffed animals biggrin Did he take it graciously? Or did he reject it like when this women kept throwing her bra to him at his Musicology concert that I went to and he kept throwing it back giggle I mean seriously who would throw things like that at him, but if you've ever given him anything respectful can I hear about it pretty please batting eyes Sorry for the long ass book typing

No...
During the "Jam of the Year" Tour, a roadie told me that all that stuff goes in the dumpster at the end of each show. disbelief

But... at one of the JOTY shows, it was the 5th or so time I had seen the show, so I KNEW that "Face Down" was the 7th song and when Prince did the bass solo he would stand on the right speaker.
I got the guard to let me go to the stage just for that song, and when Prince said, "Next time U pull a card, it better be an ace!"- I stuck this huge-ass ace card that I bought at Party City (and had laminated) in his face! lol
He just looked at me like I was crazy, smirked, and continued playing. Goal accomplished, the guard escorted me back to my seat in the 10th row getting high-fives all the way up! cool
At the time I thought I was the *It*, but as I type this, I'm thinking eek..."That's some fam shit!" shake
If I saw someone do that now--- bitchfight lol

you poor baby, I hate to laugh at U but, U and P had crossed messages/signals that night. An ace in the face and P says "what's up with that fool" lol

Took some purple and white flowers for P and a pink rose to M. Scott at the Chicago '04 show. Had to give them to his head of security guy, the one always dressed in all black with the mean look (except for when he smiles). Hopefully they got them.

yes once i left rose rose at the gate at Paisley Park on Prince's birthday. He wasn't a JW then but even if he was celebrating he probably never knew or cared. When i found out about the late nite parties i brought homemade wild raspberry jam that took hours to prepare. A guard told me that no food is ever accepted. In retrospect i guess i should have figured that out ahead of time because even tho i knew it was perfectly pure, how could he be sure?

That was very sweet of you! cool I read somewhere that Prince had a fear of being poisoned (a fear that I'm sure a lot of celebs have), so it's not surprising that he does not accept food.

During the sound check on the ONE NIGHT ALONE tour here in Oakland, some guy brought up this picture frame full of pictures to the stage that he made for Prince. He placed it on the stage and Prince said Thank You but he would not accept it. The guy left it on the stage and started to walk back to his seat and Prince on the mic going SIR SIR Take that with you. I am not going to take it. The guy went back after security told him to pick it up. I felt kinda bad for the guy as we watched in silence, him picking it up and going back to his seat.I guess no gifts please!

I can understand why some celebs won't except gifts. They don't know where it's been, and something on it might make them sick, or worse. You just never know anymore, expecially since there a lot of psychos out there. Still, it would be nice to at least throw a flower on stage after a performace. I love seeing performers take their bows on a stage full of flowers. It is a gesture that is both classy, and timeless. rose

OK, here are my two cents: Back in 1984, after I saw Purple Rain. I went to the store to buy one of the "clown masks" that were so visible in the movie....I like a fool boxed it up, made my way to the post office and sent it to Paisley Park as my gift to him, sweet little hand written note and all! I in my heart of hearts always thought he had it somewhere in his house. Anyways, a few years back..I use to work as a nanny for an actress, some b-rated actress I do not care to discuss who. wacky Anyways, everytime her fans would send her stuff like that, the staff at her house would take first pick and trash the rest! I often wonder who has my clown mask!! rolleyes

Once in DC, during the Purple Rain tour, I took light purple (sterling)roses about a half a dozen to give to Prince but could not get close to stage. So I just left them on my seat. I had not thought it out, but I remember that it so expensive, I could not afford the dozen of roses. I was crazy enough to think that they would somehow get to him. I did not care that they came from me. I just wanted him to see them. I sent a few x-mas cards too in mid 80's or so. Nuts huh?
