I hated this album ever since I bought it a couple of year ago. I didn't really pay much attention to it because I was busy listening to Prince's other albums. I only liked The Question of U, Joy in Repetition, and Thieves in the Temple and didn't give the other songs a chance. I'm listening to it right now and I like it . I'm really liking We Can Funk especially.

I like it too. I just wish the stuff by other people had been left off. It's actually pretty good with just the Prince stuff.

The Tevin and Mavis tracks could have easily been left off and waited for their albums.

The Time stuff should have been released as the full Corporate World album. I think that material is way stronger than most of Pandemonium (barring Jerk Out and Chocolate, of course).


But anyway, I think GB (at least Prince's portion, but I suppose the rest of it too), is a nice capstone to his 1980's work. Some old, some new, some old things re-worked into something new. It's kind of a summary of his sound, up to that point. And then immediately after, he changed it.

the SOUNDTRACK really isn't half bad. it's maybe only 1/4 bad.

I am with you here OP, you can read a lot of critism on this site about the Graffiti Bridge album, as well as on the Diamonds and Pearls album.

In my opinion both albums are 'a range' above albums as Musicology and 3121 (both 7 out of 10), while i would give GB and D&P an 8,5 out of 10.

I think, alltough Prince delivered his best music in the eighties, the period from 1990 and 1995 still brought us better music then anything after 1996.

I love this album..it is one of my favorites. I've loved it since I got it.

I love it. Question of You is, of course, my favorite. We Can Funk is just awesome. I can listen to Thieves in the Temple over and over. Still Would Stand All Time still stands the test of time.

And I actually Do like Tick, Tick, Bang...(don't hit me.)

It's pretty good, though I don't play it much.

its definately one of my favourite Prince albums. if he had just released it with just his tuff on it, it would be my mostest favourite Prince album.

I've posted a couple of mild "rants" about this on the org over the last few months. I put off buying it for a long time because nobody seemed to have anything nice to say about it. And of course I wound up enjoying it quite a bit when I finally added it to my collection. A good lesson in "choosing your own path". It is without question his most diverse album up to that point (although SOTT comes in almost neck in neck - but it was 2 discs, so...)

Too bad the shit songs overpower the good tracks. I believe that many folks have such a bad taste in their mouths from the bad material, it gets put on the shelf.
