Maybe they had the air conditioner turned up in the auditorium. I always take a sweater or light jacket with me when I go to places like that in the summer. When it's 90 outside, places like that will have it 40 on the inside. Brrrr!

I thought about that. Then I thought, "Well Sheila and the Twinz must be freezing, then!" lol

Also, I, too, think the Twinz are an "unnecessary accessory". I always get amused when I read statements that begin with, "I met them and..."
I can't help but think 2 things: 1) They're being defended because they took the time to be nice to U, now U feel obligated, or 2) U feel like they're your friends now because U met them. (no one on particular, just whoever is defending)
Just because they did the right thing and weren't rude to fans (because they have no right to be anyway) does not mean that we have to think that they are talented, or pretty, or anything but what we think.

No, I'm not hating. I don't want to be onstage with Prince. That's not what I feel I was "called" to do; so, no I'm not jealous of what they're doing. I just don't like watching them doing it. cool

Funny! I was going to make a comment about all of the "I met them and..." defense posts. You are in my head. lol

Yeah like thousands of the rest of you, I met them too, lovely girls. However...I don't think they are good singers, but I think their dancing has improved. I don't mind seeing them on stage. Again, seeing them on stage.

I also believe folks should agree to disagree. It's great for everyone to have an opinion. Hell, look at mine. It is mixed. I can understand everyone's point of view.

Snap

There's a nasty rumor that's goin' 'round
People think that U and, U and I are goin' down
They insist that we're more, more than just friends
So I'm gonna stick around until this movie ends
I'm gonna leave it up 2 Sister Fate, destiny
She's the only thing that's standin' in the way of U and me
Sister Fate, destiny
One day we're gonna be 2gether, wait and see
Wait and see!!!

Because they are HATERS!!! I met Maya at 3121 and she was a doll. She's pretty and very warm and charming. I say this as a woman who is very confident in myself and abilities. I don't hate, I congratulate. Maya talked to my twin sister and I for a long time. And we both thought she was too cool for school.

I would love to see all these haters do half of what they are doing. It's so easy to criticize and judge people, especially when the green-eyed monster is in the room. Folks need to quit hating. Don't hate because you can't participate. P likes them so these negative opinions really don't matter. They're the ones touring the country/world with Prince, so they're doing something right.

thumbs up! Twinz

Amen to That!! If they were perfect some of these people would still find something to Bitch about!

I'm pretty sure they will always have love 4 eachother, they are a team. And all of this talk about them getting 2gether and getting married they have been friends, and been tag teaming it up 4 a long time now, I'm pretty sure that they just look at eachother like great friend who knows maybe even family. I don't want 2 jack up anyone's fantasies of Prince and Shiela ever getting 2gether lol but this looks like a long term friendship! cool

No, it wasn't, as you can see in the first quote. Criticizing and hating are two very different things. Please keep them separate, otherwise every discussion will be killed before it begins. Criticizing a job badly done is acceptable, even though you cannot do it any better yourself. Of course, don't make it personal, as I didn't.

lol At people mad a the Twins for performing with P. lol At a good portion of this thread.

I'm still tripping on how some even poised their fingers to type Diamond & Pearl were any better. falloff Hell, they couldn't sing, or dance either. And as for the swinging hair thing and the Twins ummm, thats all Mayte did when she wasn't doing belly dance moves and btw--- she couldn't carry a note if it had a handle on it either. lol

Personally I don't have a problem with the Twins and they don't distract me from looking at P in the least. And they are not hardly "facially chanllaged" or whatever term that was used. I will agree that their singing is not great but neither was a lot of other backup dancers and band memebers he's had over the years. I don't feel like the Twinz are my friends and I don't feel the need to defend them based on some juvenile obligation. I never said they should be nice to me because I am a fan. I would not say that I am a fan of the Twinz, but unlike some of you armchair quarterbacks, I do not feel the need to dog them out.

I've never really paid attention to any of Prince's dancers. Cat was the only one who ever made me take notice. I thought she and Prince were electrifying together. After Cat, I like the Twinz and their energy. I didn't care for Mayte, Diamond & Pearl or Geneva, but I didn't feel the need to nitpick and talk about them like a catty fifth grader. After meeting Maya, I thought she was very sweet and cool, but that in no way colors my view of them. This isn't grade school.

And to clarify, I was talking to Mike Phillips about music, then Maya came over and started talking to my sister and me because we are twins. We are not crazed fans or stalkers. I have worked in the entertainment industry for years, so I am NOT star struck. My defense of the Twinz has absolutely NOTHING to do with any thing of the sort. I am a musician who loves music first and foremost. As fine as Prince is, I am not going to diss someone because their hair is "blocking my view" of him. I think a lot of this is just plain childish. I just get tired of all these unwarranted negative attacks on them. If they aren't your cup of tea, fine. But why pick them apart inch by inch for such trivial things?
[Edited 6/3/07 16:49pm]

I agree, I was not defending them on a fan level, I just don't like when ppl put anyone down about LOOKS, etc...and they are nice girls and it is a shame that some of us here have to keep saying they should put a bag over their heads...etc...etc...it is just mean neutral

Their main function with Prince is eye-candy. And I'm just sayin' I don't find the candy to my taste shrug (although they do have hella-good bods). They're not ugly girls, they're just not as attractive as I would expect someone to be who was given their role.

Everyone, including the twins (I don't know if I can take typing "The Twinz" rolleyes one more time) judges other people's looks. And if you're going to go into show business, I would hope that you would understand that your looks are going to be put under the microscope.

But do you agree that people in general jump to the "hater" conclusion far too quickly? Like, w/o even a moment's thought? I suppose these are the same people who if not supplied w/ this word would have just accused someone of being "jealous" shrug But it's use is rampant & goofy & often shuts down any further discussion b/c the user has stopped thinking - they just stand behind the word, repeated over & over again (as it apparently can never be used just once) & feel justified... when they've really justified nothing confused

I agree with you on that. People incessantly misuse nad overuse the term "hater" and many others for that matter. I make it a point not to, that is why I said that if folks were genuinely not digging the Twinz, that was cool. However, when I say "hater" I actually mean "hater." I say that because it is obvious to me that many of the people who rag on the Twinz do so because they are "haters." When people start calling folks "fugly" and saying they need bags over their heads, that is when I think the term "hater" is more appropriate - that or juvenile/immature.

But as I said, I agree with you overall. I don't think that just because someone does not like, embrace or approve of something that they are a hater. I think that is a careless use of the term.
