Well I still love Prince...the extra controversy is not really that deep to me...got better things to vent about.

Prince is in pretty much the opposite position as he was in 1995. Back then the public misunderstood, ignored, or even disliked him, while his fans supported his struggle and praised his every move.

Now the public has warmed to him once again, but his biggest fans have cooled to both his music and his causes.

Personally I reserve judgement until something really happens. Seems like a lot of talk at the moment.

It's evil. IT's the equivalent of stranding someone on a desert island. I had a yahoo account that they charged me for something I didn't buy from them and I searched high and low on every nook and cranny of the site and could not find one single way to contact them to dispute the charge

Don't know your specific problem (and agree that you shouldn't be allowed to take money without providing contact info), but I've talked to yahoo people on the phone, so there's definitely a way!

Well I looked high and low for anything, ANYTHING to be able to contact them and couldn't find jack crap

I just think its sad when Prince shows he has no respect for his biggest fans.

He preaches about love and respect in his music but in real life he is a money grabber like all the rest.

honestly, as an Org member since way back in 1999 as Sanchristian and now as
XNY...my feelings are this: on one hand I don't like the fact that he's trying to close down Prince.org and similar sights that DON'T have any links to bootleg sites and such--bootlegs are theft and he has every right to litigate to remove them from the internet if he chooses. The ORG has been diligent IMO at removing any links or discussions of any bootlegged material. Close the sites that promote what i feel is theft, leave the rest.

On the other hand, sad to say...I've never felt any closer to his music from posting here or reading here. I like the updates on his upcoming performances on TV and concert listings. Beyond that...there are a lot of whiney bitter people here on prince.org I had to stop coming here because I got sick and tired of DEFENDING him HERE of all places. Mixed in among the malcontents are a small group of positive thinkers and inspiring writers who are very cool IMO, but the naysayers far out number them. So I simply stopped coming here...except for the updates, and I thank you for the updates prince.org and Ben M...but the negativity here turns me off beyond words...SO...if the org goes bye bye, that's too bad but it's not for me. I won't miss it that much, not enough to get behind it. Maybe just enough to watch it survive from the sidelines.

Shame, shame, shame. I was a Prince FAN, yes, FAN, and I don't mean "fanatic," but I was never under the delusion that I was part of his FAMily. I loved every CD up until "The Truth", and still gave the man my money for subsequent CD's, even though most of the trax disappointed me. I put up with the obligatory 'sexy jam," sorry, but after "Do Me, Baby," it was all downhill. I put up with the pseudo-rock jointz, which were fine up until "I Could Never Take the Place" (OK, maybe a couple exceptions after that)---got bored with the uninspired keyboard chord bounces. I put up with the fingers-crossed-behind-his-back signing of his last Warner contract, immediately before changing to symbol. I put up with the on/off preaching, I put up with the sneaky chart placements using new tactics to get the music up there. I even went to see 'Rainbow Children,' despite the annoyance of the dumb narrator...the following year, "Musicology" was much more accessible...
I put up with people asking me first, why I'm into this egomaniac's music, then why I'm into this has-been egomaniac's music, and replying citing his genius and groundbreaking despite the sometimes yucky image...blah blah I could go on forever.
Prince once said his only competition is the younger version of him. There is no competition--
"The Kid" wins hands-down. He could afford to be stand-offish and weird. His music kicked butt, and it was fun to see the nasty vs. spiritual sides.
Aging Prince is but a shadow of his former self. He should embrace his remaining fans, not alienate them....he can't afford to be a jerk anymore, cuz his music and life makes sense to nobody----but himself, if even that.
Until you redeem yourself, toodles, little man. I'm gonna go listen to "Head."

My first post here, it looks like much more fun than housequake, have noticed a few people leaving it for good.
I feel things have gotten out of hand. I was witness to some terrible bullying on the part of mods on the other site, all flying under their incredibly aggressive banner - I saw a friends posts being deleted as he was writing them and the mods nasty comments all left standing and saw him being called a liar for no reason. This has all turned very fascist. (Not to mention a few 'nobodys' getting their name all over the media), good grief, what are they all famous for, and why the aggressive solidarity. Someone should get a real day-job and stop leaching of someone elses fame for their enflated sense of self worth.
It's supposed to be fun.
If someone who is just a fan can be made to feel bad by a moderator on housequake and called a liar can anyone imagine how Prince must feel when everyone on forums are free to say whatever they like every day and the only way he answers is through his music.
Prince fans are completely spoiled. He sends out a jam every week. Anyone know of any other artist who does anything like that? I certainly don't. We were treated to an amazing 21 concert nights in london (not to mention the best aftershows I have ever been to) and I'm happy to say I flew to london night after night.
It was the most fun, funky and truly fabulous summer ever.
So I support Prince and I can't wait for the next leg of the tour (fingers crossed).
