Dear Mr. Man....The Letter.

Dear Mr. Man....The Letter.

What's wrong with the world today.
Things just got to get better.

Prince mentions: Poverty. The Earth's Heirs. War. Polluted water and Air. Politics and Disease.

I respect Prince for laying the problems on the oval table. Do you belive that we as a community of Prince friends...could make a difference to the government, if we continued on with this thread in a professional manner, that was recorded by the prince.org, and mailed it to Pennsylvania avenue?

If so...would you kindly state, a concern?

Although my worries touch on all subjects...I believe that excess accumulation of goods, that other people can use, are not properly distributed. When it comes to taxing Corporations...I believe that taxes could also include the idea of paying less money to the government, and donating their excess goods. The government could use the excess to fill the holes...It ends up to be about parcel services, and how the government can use some of their planes to move things around...

Please contribute.

My concern is about the recession that we are in. I believe that the money spent on the war could be used towards other things such as health care for the elderly and children. The money used towards the war in one day could also be used to help homeless people. I believe that since this is America that no-one should be in these situations if we are "the richest country on earth".

Yes, I tbelieve we can make a difference.

My main concern is the lack of pride and ownership in our society. Cultivate a respectful, loving and intelligent society.

I am not an expert in sociology or anything like that... but...

Isn't it true (on a broad worldly scale) that if we help the homeless become no longer homeless, then that puts them in a better situation in which to procreate, thus causing over population and in turn more homeless?

It's a very sickening way to think about it, but I think scientists have proven that if we eliminated homelessness and cured all diseases and people started living longer that we would eventually implode our species by over-population.

So, is all this "help the homeless" stuff really in vain?

Not to sound like a Debbie Downer or anything...

There is plenty of room on this planet for everyone...Maybe the homeless have struggled so hard in their lives that their children would be more grateful for an earth we should take care of.

I am not saying that we should give up hope.

But it has been proven that if you took all the homeless and poverty-stricken people around the world and gave them all the luxuries of the middle-class and upper-class, then they would all be in a very fertile situation ideal for breeding. And then if they all were to breed - like 3 to 5 kids per person - the world would quickly overpopulate, thus using up our natural resources and starting the homeless cycle all over again.

The only "humane" solution after that point would be to start shipping people to the Moon or Mars and create a new planet. But of course, after a few centuries on THAT planet, we'd have to find a NEW planet again... for ever and ever, amen.

bernie, you need to study just a wee bit more. The richer people become...the fewer children they have. This has happened in every country in which the economic conditions improve.

Not having money doesn't stop people from having children. Quite the opposite, in fact.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

No no no. Let's not go suggesting to move the discussion. dammit.

It started out as a Prince: Music and More discussion and just evolved into something else, which most good discussions do.

OOOHH in that case...

I agree with Tame and am concerned with the worlds take on compiling STUFF and ownership.

This includes the ownership of goods such as fan paraphenalia (god how do you spell that?)

The MUST HAVES of this world that mean nothing, that cost money and environments to create - that which we simply store and gloat over and hoard. While in a third world a child is working its fingers to the bone to save its family from deprivation and death. While we moan about not enough pillows or perfume with a stars name on or enough CDS after countless music offered our way. While we cheat and steal and blag off the net for our own satisfaction yet moan and complain about the lack of stuff to steal, blag etc

While a child holds a gun to put an army into power to hope to stay alive long enough to feed itself that day.

While we fight over royalties and money and taxes and ownership ...

while a child sits on the floor of its drugged parents room wondering when its hungry belly of misery will be filled ....

while we pre-order STUFF clutching at happiness and grasping at things we feel should be ours when we have no more real right to them than any other child on this earth.

Eventually that may be the case...If Mars is up there, and it isn't some kind of illusion, I'm certain it would be possible to travel back and forth...However, cities underwater aren't that far-fetched either...It's all about pumping air into fish bowls...sounds like a Pink Floyd suggestion. cool

nice thread Tame, Dear Mr.Man is the top song i like on that album too .. and i think we all should make a conscious effort to do our part to not be as wasteful and help the environment ... and berniejobs, i dont believe that helping the homeless will create more homelessness... what proven study (that you said) did that come from? i dont buy that..

With a recent signature I used from a poet that I do not recall..."Do nothing today, to destroy the Harmony of the Universe." And signed Waste Management behind it, It would prove to be beneficial for driver's license's to post fines on them, for littering.
If anyone is caught by any person, and the proof is on any town camera, a citizen can report it. And if it proves to be the case, the citizen can earn a point. (For Gas)
I understand that sometimes litter accidentally escapes you, for example a small child in the backseat throwing a candy wrapper outside...or things that accidentally fall out of trucks, and various other mistakes. However there are deliberate irresponsible people. I believe they should be stopped...and as far as smoker's go, it isn't difficult to put your butt, in your pocket until reaching a receptacle.
And With Recycling...I don't even know where to start.

And I am just as guilty as the next guy for not recycling paper products properly, or regularly. Containers for all these things could be provided to the people, and collected with trash...It's just a matter of time with that. And imagine the amount of bars that throw away beer bottles? That are in landfills?

I know that they build parks over landfills and things, and that is good, however, that can be considerably reduced.
