SO MANY GOOD SONGS. true it had its share of filler but what do you expect with 3 hours of music. it had some plastic production but there are a lot of very good songs on it

It's alright, I guess.

The best songs on it would have to be "Somebodys Somebody" & "I Can't Make U Love Me"

i love 'i can't make you love me'. his is the best version of this song, it is one of my favs.
emancipation is one that you can have on in the background.

there are a few good ones.
kind of sad one in that he bears his soul re kids.

its one of my fav releases from him, and it doesnt get enough love - but then again, it went platinum and managed to chart well...thats surely one hell of an achievement for a 3 disc set by prince at tha time in his career as the symbol.

Underrated by some. Overrated by others, as is the case with most of Prince's music. There are some great songs on the record, some so so tunes & some absolute shitters.

Sure, the production is a bit plasticy and it would be great to hear the songs a little rawer, but for what it is - a 3 CD set designed to sell to the masses, it works perfectly. Just such a shame Prince decided to release Betcha By Golly Wow as the first single. If he'd chosen Sleep Around instead...

And The Holy River really is prime Prince.

I don't know...I have a lot of trouble with that album, despite the fact that I love a number of songs on it. I find there are quite a few songs I absolutely loathe on there, which is rare for me.

Overall, it seems a mediocre effort. It wasn't commercial; there are very few songs that could have been hits. And it's not particularly brilliant or groundbreaking. Up until that point, Prince had always been brilliant and/or commercial, so it was disappointing to me that his grand opus, his first album post-record contract, was so plain.

Emancipation is right there with New Power Soul, Chaos and Disorder, and Rainbow Children as my least favorite Prince albums. Emancipation did have a couple of good songs, but there were so many songs that I disliked that they dwarfed the good stuff.
I will say, however, that the first show I saw was the "Jam of the Year" tour, and it was great

emancipation and TRC are better than anything he has done since 2001. i mean musicology,3121 & planet earth are okay at best. those 3 albums combined don't match emancipation

YUP! This is a good 3 cd set. I always thought it was underrated. I like this cd from day one it came out.

I love this album! It usually gets put on first thing in the morning.....Dance my way awake in the kitchen!!

Yes Emancipation has many song too good...

god i so agree with this, i really love emancipation, infact its prob one of my fav p albums!! so many good songs, holy river and right back here in my arms are two of my fav prince songs eva i love this album and it is so underated as its ace!!

Penultimate Prince ...I love alot of the songs from it. The love songs especially . Disc II is my favorite with Disc III close behind.
