next album may take, but you can never really tell. Also, people shouldn't take offence with the track. It really wasn't written about what most people seem to think it was written about. What was it written about?

I like it...I only heard it a few times. To the generous mind the heaviest debt is that of gratitude, when it is not in our power to repay it.~Franklin

What was it written about? The exact subject matter we can only speculate about, but I do know that the track was written and recorded some time before the whole PFU thing.

It reminds me of a Gold Experience era b-side. Sort of like Rock N Roll's Alive (and it lives in Muffinapolis).
I love Milty and so should you! PRINCE DOES NOT EAT EGGS!!! : http://prince.org/msg/7/288549

For me, the great thing about it is the instruments. Most songs since Musicology are very short, but on this one, Prince likes to jam with himself(?). I love when he does it. Peace

It's the greatest song ever written in the history of the world. Not even Night Ranger could compose anything approaching its greatness. Second Funkiest White Man in America McCain = Bush = Failed policies. NO MORE! WWW.NIGHTRANGER.COM

That is what I thought too based on the "sound" of the song but the Prince camp claimed it was recorded the night before they released it online. I kinda took the lyrics to be a dig at some ex-associates rather than at fans... Of course the lyrics fit nicely as a response to fans during the PFU business.

You know I edited off the end for playlist reasons. My version lasts 6:21 with "now THAT'S funky". The end does not make sense to me at all; with the weird bossa nova vibe and the rambling. ...can't stop what's coming // can't stop what's on its way...

[Edited 9/22/08 5:39am] - It´s not bossa nova, it´s more cuban. But it´s interesting. Peace

The only thing Prince changed was the title, which he amended to PFUnk. Once the track was put on Itunes, it reverted back to it's original title: F.U.N.K. However, I'm sure Prince decided to post that particular track because of the lyrical content and how it could be interpreted with regard to PFU. [Edited 9/22/08 12:14pm]
