Prince.Org in Bitch Magazine!

OMG, KIDS! We've been mentioned in the letters page of Bitch magazine! And I was mentioned by name! woot!

This is what was written as reader response to the article they featured on Prince in their last edition:

And what to say about Prince ("Prince and the Revolution" no. 40)? Apparently, plenty. "As a longtime Prince fan, and a feminist long before I understood what the word really meant, I've often been challenged by others as to how I could possibly support an artist many perceive as sex-obsessed and mysoginistic. It's good to hear that there are others who see the same pro-woman good in him -inconsistencies and all -that I do," emailed (me with my real name). And Jason Webber's article was front-page news at the online fan community prince.org, where a few serious Prince smitties took issue with the characterization of the man as a feminist. Wrote commentator ThreadBare: "I don't see how anyone familiar with Prince's music could confuse him with a feminist. The first half of his career was spent objectifying women sexually and dressing them in next to nothing while having them act out his sexual fantasies. In more recent years, he has still constructed a world in which he exerts control over women -this time through religious instruction (given, of course, by him)." And SteelyD opined "[The song] 'Strange Relationship' says it all: 'I didn't like the way you were, so I had to make you mine' Even if he is talking religion,...in the end the woman has to be what he thinks she should be." Others on the board kept their comments simple: "I like the illustration but it doesn't do justice 2 his amazing arse."

It's not that The Joker's gay. What he is, is Batsexual. He'd be whacking it to Batsy whether our hero had girl parts or boy parts underneath that rubber. batman

Possibly. But considering in this context, Bitch is meant as a positive, that's hardly a bad thing.

It's not that The Joker's gay. What he is, is Batsexual. He'd be whacking it to Batsy whether our hero had girl parts or boy parts underneath that rubber. batman

Maybe not God, but he does seem to think he's actually a prince and not just named for one.

Maybe. But it's probably not just him. Living in that celebrity fishbowl has got to do a number on anyone's perception after a while.
