It really isn't. There's a significant lack of care thoughout the vault. Tapes etc. need to be carefully stored.

I'm thinking the same. I hope there is more.

I wonder too if they shifted songs around when they built albums tracklists. For instance Crystal Ball 1 and persumably 2 if they were pulled and moved to different spots in vault.

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

I’d always pictured the vault as a cross between the Batcave and the warehouse at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I've been randomly looking through the non-vault photos to, including the additional rooms that were used to house video stock. I've noticed:

Hand written on his notepad in his real green bedroom

'Wolf Alice - Bros'

New Song "(R Ur) Lights On"

New Song "Pay My Rent"

New Song "The Next Generation will have 2 wait"

Odesza feat Zyra's "Say My Name"

In the Studio Storage Room

Kayla & Lanell Dance (DAT)

On the shelf old video masters, a video for "Starfish & Coffee - S???RD Elementary"

Two versions of the 'Kiss' Video

70mm Film cans of London dates of Lovesexy show.

Negatives for 2 hour video called "Gothic"

Tape for video call "The Documentary" - from the Act I tour

Tapes for video called 'Come Movie'

Japan film footage and tape called 'Documentary"

5 Hours of Mayte Footage

Tape on 'Mayte shelf' labeled 'Nothing Compares 2 U'

Stock of Camden 88 Aftershow (29s reels)

Stock of Wembley 88 rehearsals

'Best of Symbol' CD-R in a garage box.

In the yellow office next to the Conference room:

Various shows on DVDRs scattered on surfaces inc Welcome 2 America, P&M & Hit N Run II.

Various VHS inc Wembley 1990.

you know, Wolf Alice are a young UK rock band, right?

Yeah, Wolf Alice are the next big thing in UK. Personally I would consider it a travesty if Prince had never heard the Super Furry Animals. At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, the best band of the new millenium by a million miles. Bar none. He may never have heard of them, or the orger 'SuperFurryAnimal', or the folk dressed up as super furry animals at The Flaming Lips gigs.

That would be sad; tragic even on the scale of a Greek epic tragedy.

GREAT WORK!!!!!!

Here's a mystery: Why did Prince re-record Head and Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad in early 1982???

"Treat Me So Bad (3-27-1982) / 8-16

Head (3-27-1982) (3-29-1982) / 9-1"

"I Don't Wanna Stop" was recorded by Prince but released by Ren Woods.

"Rough" is also listed separately on another box so "Too Tough" could either be a retitled re-recording or something different altogether.

Possibly some 'notes' on the backs of these tapes are just... 'notes'.

They don't always represent the actual song title(s).

Some were probably working titles.

-

...and yes, mutiple tapes could be video recordings from various angles, or different audio concert recordings. Who knows.

-

I questioned myself either why he rerecorded these songs : Treat me so bad, Head... (1982 ? hope the year is well readable).

-

I tried to copy the exact readable words (from these horrible pix). (I wish these pix were sharper. :-/)

But hey, with Prince, there always needs to be a bit of a mystery to keep shit interesting. Right ? wink

-

I'm going to try and do some more vault pix investigations tomorrow.

I agree. Especially due to the fact he kept all eighties masters close to himself.
I mean you gotta love the man for that.
The masters of his most personal creative streaks are in his basement.
As well as legendary official records.
His journal, mixed with "4 Prince" stuff.

Don't start me on it. Of course it had to be moved and 24/192'ed.
All of it, and ASAP.

Is Black Muse an analog recording? It doesn't look like Pro Tools was a thing,
all is full of tape.

Stock of Camden 88 Aftershow (29s reels)

He may never have heard of them, or the orger 'SuperFurryAnimal', or the folk dressed up as super furry animals at The Flaming Lips gigs.

That would be sad; tragic even on the scale of a Greek epic tragedy.

I like Super Furry Animals. But, yes, you're right, you're being very hyperbolic. I went to one of their gigs in LA...there was about 30 people watching and it was as dull as dishwater. Plus, they're Welsh, so...

Ah, Prince would have loved them. They were always pushing boundaries. And their last album was funky as hell, not a typical sound for them! As for live stuff, I wouldn't know having barely even checked youtube. Idiosyncratic Valley boys, they're Wales' answer to the Beatles.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...

Mostly a single Little Prince.
¡Caramba!

The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure
Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams
Don't Ever Lose, Don't Ever Lose
Don't Ever Lose Your Dreams

What baffles me is actually seeing all of it (not even close!).
But all the glory days are there.
Big fat multi-track tapes. Analog master tapes,
magnetic particles holding Prince's visions.

I mean it's one thing, the typical "Yeah, I have a box of tapes in my garage
from when I had a band back in the day" and this, right?

When they're going to 24/192 the 2 track master of "All My Dreams",
when this is going to blast from the past on Genelecs and Crowns,
when the tape is going to be softly pressed against the head,
check check, rollin', you know what it'll be? Orgasm.
1985. Back To The Future.

And that's just one song. Next!

I mean whenever I fear
I'm not going to be impressed ever by SKipper,
there he goes again:

But I dont care what people may say
I ain't gon' let it ruin my day
The best remedy for a basket full of lies is funk

There's nothin' like funky music
Let the music play
I'm crazy 4 Cocoa Rock

Still he laughs about it.
You cannot not love this man.
Music was his life — Duh!.

Stock of Camden 88 Aftershow (29s reels)

HOLY SCHMOLY.

.

Magnoli was doing a documentary at the time, and we know there was footage of that aftershow since it was used in the BBC documentary.

.

Now that would be an amazing Blu-ray: one of the legendary 1988 aftershows, with alternate angles, etc.

There were also 3 black binders that contained lyrics. I also saw a vhs tape in the boxes 3-11-88 I think was the date.

There's another of those binders tossed in one of the boxes in the room outside the vault itself.

Whoever mentioned 'time capsule' was right. It's like PP and the The Vault was srtuck in the 90s. It really looks like the Gangster Glam video. Chome fittings, VHS cassettes, v old computers with CRT screens, etc. Takes me back...

If that's what P wanted, then cool. It just feels a bit odd.

I don't think he had the time to think about interior design (obvs), but there's something a bit sad (maybe not the right word) about him being 'stuck' in a time, or an era. It can't have helped as he watched the rest of the world change so much and seem so, so far away from his day-to-day existence in PP.

Anyway back on topic. I hope there a many beta tapes hiding under all those old unreliable VHS cassettes. It's a far, far better source of high quality footage than what collectors are used to working with...

I was surprised when I saw these things too. Computers, phones, video equipment were all really dated. But it’s not the first time I’ve seen a millionaire with old outdated stuff. I guess they get used to something and the way it works and just stick with it till you can’t anymore. I saw in other pics he still had media readers that connect to a computer via usb. That’s pretty new compared to the older computer equipment he had. Imagine if he had a iPad and iPhone. It’s funny how us poor folk have to have the latest shit that’s out. Lol

When we have bootlegs and think we already got track from Vault we simply do not know how much more work was done. I believe we have few finished versions on bootlegs.

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?
