Anyone else pissed about N.E.W.S. being available in the shops?

Hi Folks,

Again I thought N.E.W.S. was a NPGMC-only deal. Yesterday I noticed I could have bought it in the shop the at the corner of the street. Even more ... MSN is stunting with it aswell.

Was just wondering who else is just a little upset!

As I am still a non-member this year, of course I'm not upset. But I'm not sure whether I will buy NEWS at all.

Sorry, as long as there is no REAL benefit in being a member, I renounce on paying an extra 25 $.

I dig it! Im a member but I think people who dont have a way to join the club should still be able to get the tunes somehow. Also it would create another bootleg to piss off P if it was a member only thing like the One Night Alone Piano cd.

Well I am a member and so far I think it is worth it. The site is mega-cool. Only I would like to have more members only items. Maybe in the future.
Thanks for your reply though!

Also, are we not all members of the NPG anyway?

( I know that was corny but I had to say it)

I'm not pissed off, but if I dont get it soon, I might be pissed off.. lol .. well I suppose its alright that its was gonna be available in the shops, but its not alright that they shops get it before the npgmc members.. when ALL the npgmc members got their copy maybe 3months later it could be available in the shops,.. but it sucks that people who're not npgmc member get them before members do... I ordered N.E.W.S the same day it was available.. and I still haven't got it or any infomation on when I'll get it.. but oh well life's a bitch!

Yeah okay, I guess you are right, The Sound Samples, The Vaults, The Mixing Desk, Tne Video Room, The Launch Parties (which I never was able to visit), are all things people can't copy. Plus again the site is really great to look at. I always feel privileged when I see those gates open.

Okay... fair enough .. enjoy the new CD non-members! Let's hope it is a prelude for a real funky new album.

Not to sound like a snob, but I could really care less if I have to wait. I have enough Prince music to last me til' I'm 90. And if it's in the stores...cool more people will hear it.

Not really.

You should expect these things. NPGMC doesn't offer exclusivity.

Prince has always done stuff like this, anyone who joins the club or orders from 1800NF knows that there is a chance of getting shafted because time and time again Prince has shown himself to have a very bad business model.

Am more pissed off that it is available to download from MSN for $7 than it being available in the shops!!

I have paid for the CD (and delivery) to the UK from NPGMC for more than double that.

Oh well.

Don't you guys want Prince's music to be available to a wide audience? Every new Prince CD should be easily available for anyone who wants to buy it,and you shouldn't have to join a music club to get it.

I'm just wondering what gave you the impression N.E.W.S was and NPGMC-only deal? I never got that impression at all, and a few of the PP moderators have posted that it will be in stores.

Right, it is petty and selfish towant every Prince release to be avaialble only to members. It doesnt make sense. NPGMC did not promise that it was an exclusive release. Is Prince supposed to only let music out to fans club memebers? That is stupid.

Look, if $25 is that much money to you, keep your broke ass on the sidelines, stop bitching, and buy the music elsewhere.

I understand your being pissed off. In their defence, the NPGMC didn't say NEWS was an exclusive item ... but neither did they say it would be available to retail until AFTER club members had ordered it.

NEWS SHOULD be an exclusive item because I can't imagine it selling beyond Prince's fanbase.

The only things that should be members only are things that the stores don't want to buy.

We should be 100% encouraging Prince to still cater to music shops in terms of distributing to them. What happens if a person we know wants a copy of NEWS (for example) but is a little leery of joining the club?

That $7 download of NEWS is ripped at a garbage rate. Not worth $7 IMO. Still, somebody may want to download that and more power to then!

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

I'm not an NPGMC member but I've heard the 96 quality versions of N.E.W.S on Kazaa, the music has grown on me a bit, but i don't think i'll buy it.i just don't like it enough, it's just not my thing. It's fair he releases it to the widest audience as possible though.

NPGMC members HAVE had their exclusives in the last year (ONA piano, and Xpectation) so you'll probably get more in the future.

LaMont lives at home in his parents basement and works part-time at Burger King so his expenses are real low; which is why he feels like a big man when he is always calling people names like "broke ass" when they have the audacity to question the value of the money spent on the club.

Well, throughout the last couple of years I have come to realise that Prince's fanbase is still pretty big, and also still evolving, new fans come, old fans go.

Yes, but not big enough to get "NEWS" into the Top Forty. Remember the commercial disasters that were "Rave" and "Rainbow Children"? Those were, frankly, a lot more commercial than a four track instrumental album where each track lasts 14 minutes. This is one the casual fans will sit out, I think.

a fool and his money are soon parted. there is a tremendous difference between not wanting to waste $25 and not having $25. if your ignorant ass wants to continue to work to fill prince's pockets go ahead, but fuck you for ridiculing others for not being the Prince bitch that you are.finger

the club is worth 25$ to me. they've done a great job this year, imo.

the only thing i don't like about the NPGMC website is that non-members can't access the boards, read the news, chat and post on threads. makes it too. . .. .country-clubish to me. i prefer the org where everyone can come and go.

but, speaking as a person who once didn't have a computer or the skills to access downloads, i'm glad that N.E.W.S. will be available to the general public in stores.
