Go figure...no props for Prince

So I've been all over the net looking at all the Grammy nominations. Pictures of everybody who's nominated, but no Prince. Not even a mention that he's nominated. (These are news & music sites.)

Give it up for Prince in these days of bubble gum crap music. Without Prince most of these MoFos wouldn't be in the biz.

Excuse me? Prince was nominated for best instrumental album. Not exactly the award the journalists will look at first.
Give them some days... and if not, big fucking deal. That'll teach Prince to release another decent album (something he hasn't done more than three times in the last 15 years).

I understand where your coming from, but for someone like me who's follwed him since 81' I'm tired of him getting overlooked. I also understand that Prince can care less about the nomination.

As I've learned from years of being a Prince fan all my life as well;

Prince doesn't want the recognition, or nominations. Or doesn't care.

Think about it? confuse Has it ever really been a big deal to him? confuse Have you ever heard him mention a Grammy or AMA other than saying "Thank you"?

My aunt (whom had me standing on the fireplace, with a broomstick for a guitar as a toddler, lip synching to International Lover) told me just recently "He's never wanted the recognition. Even when he was on 'The Top' rolleyes it was really no big deal to him. He turned down 4x more interviews than he actually did."

Got me thinkin', he doesn't care. Why do we?

Answer: I think we want Prince to get the respect that he deserves, for a currently Billion $ industry that he influenced.

Blue shrug
I think...?

If you can give me props for the people nominated in the best spoken word category or any of the religion categories I will join you in being mad for Prince.

His award category will NOT be part of the televised show.

But seriously who cares if Prince is overlooked? News is just so-so anyways, but I'm guessing they had a hard time coming up with 5 instrumental pop albums smile

But if you happen to like it more power to you.

Also, why would these people not be in the business if not for Prince? I'm sorry, but music existed before Prince and it sure as hell will exist after Prince. There are other great artists besides Prince. Would Prince have existed without Sly, Larry, James, and Stevie?

if Prince had a decent PR operation behind him this WOULD be news, it would be great if he performed a track at the Grammies.

Were there pix of Ry Cooder and the other instrumental nominees? If so, then be upset.

So who won last year's Grammy for best Pop Instrumental? It's hardly big news and being as Prince's award won't be televised I'm sure Prince won't show up and they sure as hell wouldn't let him perform.
