I feel you on that Kylie bit.....one thing I like about Prince fan's however is we do have a wide variety of musical tastes...I do notice their is alot of anti hip hop sentiment on here though....I personally Love hip hop especially what it used to be....Uncle L. is a veteran got to give him his props...and he fine as hell too....Fat Joe holdin it down for Boriquas 11 years in the game got to hold it down for him...now the other 2 cats especially Nelly are mad corny...don't feel that sing a long wanna be rap bullshit.....some Hip Hop that i am feeling though.....

How old R U? I was so...into rappers to...when I was like (16 - 25) LOL

I STILL LISTEN TO IT...BUT MOSTLY OLD SCHOOL SHIT. LL used to my hero (when I was a teen) because the ladies were crazy about him and he was one of the few who didn't have a crew...he was solo and the most popular rapper in the business back in the dayz. Now he makes good radio cuts but his albums suck. His whole thing is image, he doesn't even try to rap with any skill. He's just going on his name and his past success.

When U get older, you realize that those guys just got lucky...and that could have been me if I was around the right people. Once you know what the rap game is all about...you start to view the artist differently. Their not Prince, Rick James, Whitney Houston...their talking over some tight ass beats and make U bop your head, that's it. All it is - it's a business. It's just image, gimmics, record politics, nothing of real substance or talent. Kayne West was a breath of fresh air...no he's not the savior of rap but we needed some balance. The whole rap game is just based on getting the best producer of the moment and coming up with a radio friendly record like - Sunshine or Headsprung. They push the albums out the ass until it's released and then U don't hear anythig else about them until they go on tour - LOL Holla back when you reach 30 and let me know what U think. LOL

When will I be too old to enjoy some of this stuff? I like LL, Busta, Mr. Cheeks.... I really like Fat Joe's "Lean Back." Must be his biggest hit, and the song of the summer.

I disgree...music doesn't have an age. You like what you like....period. My kid just bought herself a New Edition cd and she has some old Ike and Tina and she's only 13 and I have bounced my old ass around to some newer, younger artists. My dad can talk about music from any decade...because he lovesssss music including some Hip hop. I'm really feelin' dead prez, madlib others right now....

And shit...I can't rap...so...they have something on me...

Good music (hip hop) is out there...the problem is you have to find it.

You can't base any music today on what is for the radio....radio sucks period...and EVERYONE gives into what is "popular"....even PRINCE, Rick, whitney....etc.

How much you wanna bet that U could have a hit record if you had the look and got a beat maker like Dr. Dre or Timberland? The music industry is producer driven...that's all I'm saying. So it's hard to really fall in love with recording artist anymore. Get my point?

True! Guess that's the thing about rap today, "they don't dance no more" (Goodie Mob reference). Not like Heavy D and the Boyz did, anyway....

This is a little off-topica, but I love early- to mid-90s rap. My favorite record this summer, hands down, has been the Lost Boyz' "Legal Drug Money." It's strange, I just popped the CD in my stereo randomly after not listening to it for years and it has become one of my very favorite rap albums. I love "Da Game," "Lifestyles of the Rich & Shameless," "Music Makes Me High," "Is This Da Part" and "Straight From The Ghetto."

But the thread wasn't about the music, it was about how "hot" rappers are. Zelaira's posted dozens of groupie threads in the past few months.

Exactly, I've been listening to LL since "donuts and poptunes."

I have all LL's lps/cds. He is just one artist that I support.

I was thinking the same thing...and she was the only female...where was Salt n Pepa? I do know Salt is doing spiritual stuff now but I'm sure she would have gotten together for that.

Sexism maybe....Maybe hip hop doesn't think women had a part in its history...Maybe they should have gotten the women from the Wrecks n effect video...to shake their rumps one mo gan..... wink

Yea, I guess they think women were significant enough for a mention but not enough to get more than 20 seconds on the mic rolleyes Lyte was the shit man, she deserved a medley too - give the girl a minute & a half at least! lol She barely got started disbelief
