Why aren't ya'll on Janet's website?

The Janet talk on this joint is a bit nauseating. Who's this website about?
NOT HER.

It's barely ever updated and the forum is completely nuts, when it works.

Because there's NO objectivity at all on a Janet website. A topic like "Least favorite Janet Jackson song" would have 25 replies calling everyone 'haters'. Think All For You isn't up to Janet's high standards? You won't get much discussion other than being branded 'jealous'. Think the mention of Michael Jackson brings out negativity in Prince fans? Bring up the name Madonna on a Janet message board.

Besides, half of the people at those sites weren't even out of diapers when Rhythm Nation 1814 was in the charts.

But here's my point .... it's a Janet website.
For people who want to talk about Janet.

This hear is a website about our boy, Prince.
Now I know this is the NON PRINCE forum, but I sware, with all the Janet talk in here, I get a bit sick.

Maybe you should head over to Janet-Xone.

That very topic was recently on Janet-Xone, and people pretty quickly came up with a huge list of their hated tracks (Feel It Boy was very popular), some of which were surprising to other members.

So don't click on the threads?

It is the MUSIC: NON PRINCE forum, as you noted.

Obvious answer.
What I want to know is why is there a common thread between Prince followers and her followers?
There is just no comparison.
It'd be like going to a Stevie Wonder website and there's all these posts about Lil Kim.

An obvious answer to an obvious question shrug.

So what you're saying is, once you listen to Prince you have to become a pretentious music lover who only listens to "artsy" stuff? Well, no, it doesn't quite work that way....

I would have thought you'd be complaining more about the huge troupe of Britney fans on this site.

Nah, that was a bad example.

Anyway, Janet-Xone is just as bad. I'm tired of being told that I'm not a "fan" because I don't love everything the woman has ever done. I've spent hundreds of dollars on concert tickets, why shouldn't I be allowed to mention what parts of the shows disappoint me? I've bought every Janet cd since Velvet Rope on their release dates, why can't I mention that her work has gone downhill.

There's a difference between constructive criticism, and outright hostility towards an artist. I just wish that some of her fans (and fans of other artists) could realize that everybody (even Miss Janet) makes mistakes and not everything that these artists touches turns to gold.

P.S. The dichotomy between Prince and Janet, who were both pop artists in the same time frame, is much smaller than the ocean (of time and musical character) that exists between Lil' Kim and Stevie Wonder.

Well, I don't mind Janet-Xone. It's a lot less harsh than most of the other forums.

It's odd, because I've seen tons of threads devoted to negative aspects of Janet on there, especially regarding the current album and how she's handled it.....

Maybe because more Prince fans that also like Janet than Stevie fans that like Lil' Kim. Janet and Prince were both relevant at the same time, and some of their music is similar.

You also have the Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis/Jellybean Johnson connection.

Not to mention that Prince.org isn't your average website; most people here have a broad spectrum of music that they listen to. This makes the site more enjoyable than any other artist's fan forums.

No, I think the example I used is perfect.
The aforementioned men are both musical geniuses.
And the females are "If I put my (*)(*) in your face, will you buy my record?"

Holy Shit.
I can't believe you are trying to compare Prince and Janet.
Does the fact that he actually writes his own music mean anything to you?
You hit a nerve on this one.

I'm so sick of people who don't want to argue.
It's a form of entertainment. It makes my brain grow.

If you really want to have some fun, go to a Janet board and start a similar thread with the same intent.

Of course, you'd have to be pretty desperate for entertainment to do that, but still.
