I had seen Paul in concert 3 (or 4) other times - in 1989 and 1993 - and I had always prayed to see three particular songs in concert - Hey Jude - which he played in both 1989 and 1993 - and 2002, Mother Nature's Son - which he played on Sunday Night - and Hello Goodbye - which he opened the show up with - so, as you can guess, Andrew is a very very happy guy. He opened the show really rocking the house - Hello Goodbye, Jet, All My Loving, and the song Getting Better from Sgt Peppers which Paul is playing in concert for the first time ever. Then he did Coming Up - which you probably dont know - but it was a number 1 hit in 1980, and then he did Let Me Roll It from the Band on the Run album - its a really great concert song. Then he played 3 new songs (which is great cuz he got them outta the way early). Then he had the whole band leave the stage and he was alone with just his acoustic guitar and played 9 songs - I mean, it was priceless - it was like heaven - he had his voice working and it was like magic!!!!! When he sang You never Give me Your Money - he had forgotten the words - so he starts singing - I cant remember the words, and i'm not gonna remember them now.....it was very funny. Then the band came back on and they just rocked - especially maybe I'm Amazed - which was the best performance of the song I had ever heard - and back in the USSR which they really rocked hard on - simply freaking marvelous. The band rocked hard for 10 songs - and then Paul went to the Piano and played Let it Be and followed it up with Hey Jude. When Paul does Hey Jude, he gets the whole audience to sing the Na Na Na part - and he had the men going against the women (the men did it better LOL) Then he left the stage and came back for his first of two encores and, still on the piano - played The Long and Winding Road, Lady Madonna, and then switchto guitar and rocked the house with I saw Her Standing there - the place was going crazy!!! The he left and came back for his final encore and he played Yesterday on the acoustic, and then the band came out and the rocked - playing the Sgt Pepper Reprise and attached it to "The End" - the last 2 minutes of Abbey Raod. All in All, he played 37 songs - 22 Beatles Songs, 10 Wings / Solo Songs, 3 New Songs, Vanilla Sky and Freedom. I was simply blown away. Its amazing but Paul hasnt toured since 1993 - and you sort of forget how good he is live. All the reviews I have read have been stellar. You really dont know what you are missing.....

Paul McCartney loves to go see Prince in concert, I've heard McCartney mention Prince in at least 3 different interviews and even in a live interview on the radio. But, I've never heard Prince make a direct reference about Paul McCartney.

"But, I've never heard Prince make a direct reference about Paul McCartney."
The only even close reference I've heard Prince make, was at a show at Paisley Park in 95. He said "Tonight, we're the Ohio Players, tonight, we're Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club band." I'm going to see McCartney in 2 weeks and I can't wait!!

I saw McCartney in Boston on Friday night - he was awesome! Especially since I bought a $100 ticket for $70 from someone outside the venue only 5 minutes before the show started!
The show was great - highlights for me were definitely the acoustic songs. Still haven't seen the ONA show, so this was the next best thing (or better) for me, a huge Prince / Beatles fan. Loved it. I have always been surprised that Prince hasn't made many Beatles references (and NEVER covered any Beatles or related song in concert or in the studio - not many acts have done that). The closest I have found is the Sgt. Peppers reference in Paisley, '95, and the John Lennon references in Annie Christian. Speaking of which, another great song about JL's death - The Late Great Johnny Ace by Paul Simon (on Hearts And Bones). And the incredibly moving Here Today by McCartney, which I heard for the first time in concert on Friday - any others?

I haven't been following McCartney's solo work. Maybe I should. I've heard some of his solo stuff a long time ago, and I was less than inspired. I am curious to hear tracks from this concert, though... ---------

McCartney still plays his original Hofner bass live...it still has the setlist from the last Beatles show taped to the side of it.

and i forgot...were there any pissed-off Michael Jackson fans at the show because McCartney didn't play "Say Say Say?"

Man, talk about being stuck in the past. But what choice has he got. he hasn't made any good music since the seventies. And people question the quality of Prince's work in the last couple of years. Ha. He's never had a dry spell like Mccartney.
Has Paul packed a good supply of viagra for this tour?
