Tina's "River Deep, Mountain High"

I downladed it wondering what the real version sounded like (the only one I heard was part of it from "What's Love Got...."

WHAT a song! Her vocals are chill giving! They were so powerful. I never hear this song on any oldies stations. I heard it was too "white" for black radioand too "black" for white radio. I understand how that couldve been back then, but this is an underrated superb track!

TINA!

Im sad to say yes! I only heard the FULL REAL version today!

I have been hearing the What's Love Got To Do With It clip since the movie firat came out but never going out to buy an Ike & Tina album.

I never heard the real "Nutbush" either.

I found "Shake A Tailfeather" was better on the movie, and so was "Fool In Love" like Tina re-recorded the song

thumbs up! One of the best covers ever!!!

This is one of my favourite Tina songs. One of the highlights when I saw her a few years ago. Though the original is quite fun; the 'newer' version is absolutely brilliant! A lot fuller in sound. If u don't own any of TINA's albums, w/ Ike or solo..I suggest you get a move on and buy her entire catalogue. nod

TheRealFiness

about 1 million dollars was spent recording this record and it was a financial and charting failure in the US... but i believe it went to #1 across the UK's playlists and charts.

The surpremes recorded a version in 1969 ( i believe that was the year)

My momma played that for me when I was like 10. I remember that day well, my mom hitched up her dress, Tina-style and danced like her. I was cheering her along. Ever since that was OUR song.

My momma had something with rivers, it seems. Another one of her songs was Many Rivers To Cross.

Tina's vocal + Celine's orchestration of the song = cool

But yes, Celine's version is actually pretty good.

And don't forget the grat version done by The Four topd and The (Diana Ross-less) Supremes. It's almost as good as the Spector-Turner original
