SNOOP DOGG COLLARED AT HEATHROW

SNOOP DOGG COLLARED AT HEATHROW

Mark Oliver and agencies
Thursday April 27, 2006

The occupants of the British Airways first class lounge at Heathrow were probably rather relieved last night that the 30-strong entourage of the US rapper Snoop Dogg were turned away.

But Snoop and his minders were not happy and what has been described as a "mini-riot" broke out at terminal one that left the rapper and five of his associates under arrest.

Seven police officers were injured. One suffered a fractured hand, the others' injuries were more minor, mostly cuts and bruises.

According to reports, after being turned away from the first class lounge the rapper and his entourage - who were en route to Johannesburg where they have a gig tonight - moved on to a nearby duty-free shop.

They are alleged to have thrown bottles of whisky and argued with staff.

The police were called and officers were escorting the group away from the scene when a further disturbance broke out, Scotland Yard said.

"Police were called at 6pm last night to reports of a disturbance involving 30 people in a business lounge at terminal one," a spokesman said.

"The party was told that they would not be permitted to board their flight and officers then attempted to direct the group to baggage reclaim.

"A number of the group became abusive and pushed officers."

Six men in their 30s, including Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, were arrested on charges of violent disorder and affray and detained at two west London police stations."

The superstar rapper grew up among the streets gangs of Long Beach, California and ended up on the wrong side of the law. In 1993 he was tried and acquitted for murder - the same year he found fame with his debut album, Doggystyle.

Since then, he has become a movie star, appearing in film based on the television series Starsky and Hutch. The rapper, who made his name with his lackadaisical drawl, has even been invited to speak at the Oxford Union.

Last year Snoop had a happier stay in London, appearing at the Live 8 show.

He had offered to take the England captain David Beckham out on the town, but the player's wife Victoria put her foot down, telling the rapper: "Look Mr Snoopy, you're not taking my husband out. I know all about your reputation." lol

Why did he need 30 people with him? This another thing that sickens me about rap artists. I would not be surprised if one of Snoop's "entourage" was the one that started the whole drama. And because Snoop was the celebrity in the group, he was arrested along with them.

That is why we can't take some black people anywhere we go... just don't know how to act right!

They mentioned the reason for the ruckus on Yahoo: apparently some of entourage started acting out and causing the nonsense because they couln't get into the V.I.P. Lounge for 1st Class Travelers (with Snoop)...well guess what? These knuckleheads were traveling with COACH CLASS TICKETS!

That being said, here's a newsflash on how the Lounge thingy works with BA:

1. You have to be either 1st Class ticket holder, or a member of BA's Executive Club to access the lounges...and...

2. You're allowed only ONE guest as a member...I'm not sure how it works for the "one off" ticket holders in 1st class ( I think they can only access the "1st Lounge" w/ one guest), but I know with the club membership we can take one person inside the Executive lounge or Concorde Room, whether you're a blue, silver, OR gold club cardholder.

...now considering you have some people in those lounges who have been flying that airline for YEARS, and particularly those gold card members that have spent the most money there and accumulated the most airline awards over a zillion years...and even they can only take ONE person inside the lounges with them, what makes these bad ass kids think they can just storm up in there like they're at a damn nightclub????confused

That's simple, because in this country, the "Celebrity Worship" has gotten so fucking out of hand that they think that just because they're with Snoop, they're supposed to get their asses kissed everywhere just like they do here. Over here, all 30 of 'em would have been up in VIP with Snoop with no problem!

Horribly sad but true nonetheless. disbelief

But you know, on top of verbally and physically abusing BA staff and airline personell, the rejected entourage members went into the duty free shop nearby and started playing toss with and dropping liquor bottles out of spite, and ransacking the store...now as "terse" as I've seen airline employees behave at home post 9/11, I KNOW they wouldn't have let anybody get away with that, Snoop entourage or none lol
