Keith Richards says he snorted his father's ashes mixed with cocaine

LONDON (AP) - Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has acknowledged consuming a raft of illegal substances in his time.

In comments published Tuesday, he said he snorted his father's ashes mixed with cocaine. "The strangest thing I've tried to snort? My father. I snorted my father," Richards was quoted as saying by British music magazine NME.

"He was cremated and I couldn't resist grinding him up with a little bit of blow. My dad wouldn't have cared. . . . It went down pretty well, and I'm still alive."

Richards' father, Bert, died in 2002 at the age of 84.

Richards, 63, one of rock's legendary wild men, told the magazine that his survival was the result of luck, and he advised young musicians against trying to emulate him.

"I did it because that was the way I did it. Now people think it's a way of life," he said.

"I've no pretensions about immortality," he added. "I'm the same as everyone . . . just kind of lucky.

"I was number one on the 'Who's Likely To Die' list for 10 years. I mean, I was really disappointed when I fell off the list."

I remember hearing that it was Rahsaan Roland Kirk's dying wish that his ashes be mixed with marijuana and smoked by his friends. Not sure if that's true or not.

I love this guy.

I love it, especially anytime that people do something that puts an end to silly religious customs. We may think him snort the ashes with coke was crazy, but its not much more crazy than cremating him and then keeping him on the shelf in a jar.

This is SO weird.

Well, I always keep my bedroom door shut so my daughter won't go in and play in make up and what not.

Well, she got in a couple weeks ago, and she had the drawer for my nitestand open and was holding this little baggie of powder.

The bag was grayish but you could DEF tell there was powder in it.

I was like WTF?????

She found forgotten hidden good from before we had the kids!!!!!

But of course after further inspection I say it was just my DaD.

How weird, huh?

Well now Richards is saying that he was just joking, And that it never happened. He should know by now that people will believe any crazy story about him.

I know it's a wrong thing to do- but I burst out laughing when I heard this. It's hilarious!! How high must he have been to mix heroine with his dad's ashes??! Or w/e the drug is called.

As an aside, I have a friend who lost his father when he was a teenager. Okay, things were pretty weird and my friend has a history of mental illness with depression and suffered sexual abuse etc. But he told me that he was in some kind of state of delirium after his father's death and he sat down and ate his father's ashes with a spoon. I still want to put that in a screenplay.

When asked "Is there any drug Keith wouldn't do?", his friends always replied "Keith would snort up his own grandmother".
However after this incident,
they all admitted that they were only speaking figuratively & that this incident made have been crossing the ....uh.....line.

I don't see what the big deal is. It's a small amount of dust. It's been burned so it's clean. It's not his father, it's his father body reduced to dust the way we all began if we believe the bible.

Guess it's better than "smoking" him.

If it was a joke, it wasn't a very good one. In fact I don't believe it was a joke, either Keith flat out lied or it actually happened. It seems Keith as much as anyone wants to perpetuate his persona. Oh well it's his choice and the choice of anyone else who buys into it.
