yall Picking up Solange's album today?

I saw her video for Sandcastle Disco and its nice! I was more impressed by her wanting to be herself and for taking charge of her career.
She said she was inspired by the careers of Michael Jackson and Prince as they gave the middle finger to all the people that told them they cant do what they want.

Can wait to hear what her 2nd album sounds like.

I was thinking about buying it. I just loved her new single, I Decided and she certainly has better stage presence and voice technics than her sis Beyonce in my opinion. So maybe I will get it somewhere down the line.

I saw her last night on Letterman and, 2 b honest, I wasnt impressed!! Her style is neither here or there!! I thinks shes very confused as 2 what genre she wants 2 b in!! Is she either metal or grunge, or hip-hop, or R & B???? God knows!!!! In fact, I thought she was a total freak show!!!!

She's unique and her album is tight.... real tight.

I've been calling the sound she has along with quite a few other acts as of late 'retro-soul'. Even though that doesn't quite describe her either because she comes with a 'hippie' vibe as well. I would say she falls into a vein akin to acts like Corine Bailey Rae, Amy Whinehouse and India.Arie

But she most definatlty is not metal or grunge... eek

Yeah, it's obvious she's gone the Neo Soul route and this may suit her just dandy. I wish Mya would do the same, I think she could do some work in that genre as well. I'm gonna get a promo copy of Sol Angels from my homegirl that works at the label.

Mya had a Neo Soul cut on her Moodring album, I forget what it was, but the moment I heard it I said "THIS is the genre she should be in. Typical R&B ain't her flava".
