"A 45-year-old man was arrested on 19 September on suspicion of possession of drugs in the Hampstead Heath area," a Metropolitan Police spokesman said. The singer was taken to a police station and cautioned for possessing class A and class C drugs. Last month the singer completed a two-year world tour called 25 Live, his first for 15 years. After performing "final" dates at London's Earls Court and in Copenhagen, Michael said he would be retiring from arena and stadium shows. He said he would leave the "bells and whistles" of large-scale tours behind after the tour because he wanted a "quieter life". During the concerts, he performed his number one hit Outside in a police uniform in a jokey reference to previous arrests I love GM but what an asshole! sorry, but taking drugs is one thing (and it's clear to me it doesn't do him or his music any good) but how many times within 2 years has he been arrested??? And now in a public toilet again!!! What did he do, deal??? At times it's embarassing to be a GM fan. It#s sad though that he seems to need drugs... I hoped he was happier and smarter. | |

Except he did not write classic songs after going nose-down into drugs. For me it all ends with Older. After that, it all became a blend of wannabe dance and boring ballads. He lost it and I think pot had a lot to do with it. I get all nostalgic when I walk past my supermarket and the gypsy woman at the door plays Careless Whisper on her accordeon. Sigh... it's not that easy. he took ecstasy in the mid 80s too and he still wrote the Faith album! He was highly on weed when he wrote Older. But I agree, since then it went downhill. IT#s not just the songs I dislike, it's the whole production of his songs. I think they used to be timeless, staight to the point. But on Patience and all the other albums his songs lacked structure and he used electronic sounds on sonsg that don't fit with that. I hope I like his new Christmas songs, though!!! | |
