Jenny Lewis // The Watson Twins // New releases!!! For the last few days I have been trying to establish who made the better record; The Watson Twins or Jenny Lewis.

Acid Tongue with a little bad acting with Jenny and Ben Gibbard before they play the song

Well, here we are again! I like both albums, I must admit. And I just got them, so I am still getting into them... There's such a variety of stuff on Acid Tongue, but I'm not sure how I feel about her new-found fondness for singing falsetto. It's not bad or anything, but her regular voice is just so stinkin' charming.

Totally new to them, but I think I like Jenny's music better.

The Jenny Lewis album is strange. On first listen it blew me away--feels a bit more full-blooded than Rabbit Fur Coat--but after repeated listens, I'm not sure it'll hold up as well. The title track is definitely one of my favorite songs of hers EVER though. I haven't heard the Watson Twins album, will have to check that out. I might have been the only one that posted on the first thread. I had a crush on Jenny Lewis for a second when the last Rilo Kiley album came out. This new song sounds very cool, but I'm more likely to get the previous album she did with the Watson Twins first I think. The Watson Twins song is nice, but not very special to me.

I was just listening to More Adventurous this morning--that has to be one of my favorite albums of the decade. It flows so well, and it has that perfect mix of full-bodied songs that pay tribute to all sorts of past genres, but her lyrics are still really mysterious and detailed. If there's one complaint I have about Under the Blacklight, Rabbit Fut Coat and Acid Tongue, it's that the musicianship gets a bit lost behind the songwriting, and her songwriting doesn't seem quite as detailed anymore. Still love her to death though.
