See if u were in Australia (which runs their systems on the PAL system) and u had the choice of:

Buying from NPGMC: NTSC region 0

or

Buying from online store: PAL region 0

Which would u choose 2 buy u're DVD from???

Cant wait to get it allthough its way too short...why not complete 3 hour show???

Region 0 means its uncoaded, there is no such ting for PAL and NTSC for region 0 DVD's. You will be ordering the same disk as eveyone else.

I don't mind an edited concert, after all, Sign o the Times is edited down. But what I think every concert vid should at least have the first song when the artist walks on stage and the reaction they get, and the last song when they say goodbye for real. This vid starts mid-way and ends mid-way, I'm sure they'll edit it cleverly but still...

If they ever release this rumoured Purple Rain film remaster, will it start with 'Take Me With U', edit out 'Darlin' Nikki' and finish on 'When Doves Cry'?!!

I also think this is only going to encourage the buying of bootleg concert vids. Prince says, why buy low quality bootlegs from bootleggers? We say, because they offer the full concert! My argument with live bootlegs is, if the artist was never gonna release the material, how can they be losing money to the bootlegger? An edited down concert just opens the door to bootleggers that little bit more...

It's 2 seperate issues here, Region encoding and TV Picture formats

Region 0 is going 2 work, no matter where u live

Europe & Australia Tv's run on PAL format

US and Japan run on NTSC format

In this thread, I've successfully stopped myself in complaining about the tracklist again.

I just relooked at this setlist.

I think this will be a pretty good DVD.

I saw Prince live in Oslo last october, and it was fantastic. He`s never had a better backing band, and the man himself is better then ever. Because he concentrates more on playing now. "Sign of the times" was the high point that night. His best version EVER. Im looking forward to this live DVD.

Now that I am taking a closer look...it´s strange that the DVD will start with ´Pop Life´...I imagined it would be something a little harder like TRC...
Anyway, it will be good to have songs like The Ride, Strollin/U want me, 1+1+1, etc on DVD

Apparently I can take it to the Samsung place here in Bangkok and have something altered, or I could even have asked for it in the shop when I bought it but I forgot.

Actually, Goldie's right here. Even though PAL and NTSC versions of disc will co-exist, the only difference, in this case, will be the frame rate. As the source material is NTSC resolution (525 vertical lines, 30 fps. Other than that it has nothing to do with the NTSC television standard) the PAL version won't have any better picture quality as a PAL DVD player will output a PAL (although at 30 frames per second) signal anyway when playing an NTSC disc.

I actually got my dvd in the mail 2 days ago. the soundcheck portion of the dvd is nothing more than an intro showing the npgmc members coming into the soundcheck and showing the band jamming a little. it's only like 3 min long though. while to me it doesn't quit capture the energy that his shows have, it's still a good watch. to many highlights to name so i will just stick the only low lights which is him and nikka costa on stage together. no disrespect to her but I really could have done without that. other wise it's got all the elements of a great show: a good 10 min jam of 1+1+1=3, VERY good guitar solo's, extraordinary vocal preformance on "gotta broken heart again". just too short all together. but all in all this is something even a casual prince fan can enjoy.

To NICKANDMON:- The DVD is region 0. Therefore wherever u r in the world, the DVD will play.

how many times do we have 2 say it...yes region 0 means any1 who bought a regionally coded dvd player will still be able to play it...so no matter where u play the dvd sure - it will play fine...the important thing is that your TV will display NTSC as opposed to PAL...most tvs that have been made in the last 5 years or so will play both formats...but older tv's will display the picture/movie in black & white - and even older TVs not at all...so the most important thing is to make sure that your TV will cope with NTSC ...and yep, if the footage was shot in NTSC originally then the picture won't be any better in PAL...anyway hope this puts this 2 rest...I will wait and but the PAL version - because while my 29" TV in the living room will play NTSC no problem at all...my 21" TV in the bedroom (which is 7 years old) shows NTSC in black & white...
and just as a side note...while I am glad 2 have a different tracklist to the live CDs...I would have prefered the whole show...and the whole aftershow from NY !!! although i have some of it on VCD...Y? - cos P won't release it!!! >
