I'm not sure if there even are outtakes from this album but if so, a few of those would be enough to sweeten the pot for me. As it is though, it's not for me.

Nice! I still have my original vinyl copy from 1985.Favorite tracks: “The Character” and the excellent slow jam “Don’t Wait For Me”.

Have the origianl album also. It' was a mediocre release. No real outstanding songs. But happy to hear this is coming out. Why not, since there isn't much happening. Maybe some remixes are worth it.

I agree nothing exciting. But its about time there is some kind of remaster or bonus tracks. It a 45 year old album. Unfortunately I'm not interested in a physical copy. But I'm okay with digital copy. I personally enjoy the album, but honestly I haven't listened to it in years. I still cant find any info on track list or if physical and or digital. Is it a single cd or 2? If its only one i dont expect much. I know there were three 12" singles released. Color of Success, Oaktree, Love Sign. Each had a remix, instrumental. I wonder if it will contain any of the single versions. I remember buying the single, but when I got the album all the songs were longer versions. Hopefully the remastering is good. I dont even remember how the old one sounded. A bit curious on the unreleased mixes It will probably be one of those releases I grab listen to a few times and sore away. (Actually that's what I go with alot of the music I get) 😅 I will take my place, In the great below

Good news, announced by MD himself on the socials! Release date June 26 or 27.
No tracklist available yet. But since the original album itself clocks at just over 35 minutes, a single CD could contain as deluxe material: • Oak Tree ext. 9:06 • Oak Tree a cap. 1:10 • Oak Tree instr. 3:45 • Love Sign ext. 5:26 • Love Sign dub 3:49 • Love Sign instr. 4:24 • Color of Success ext. 6:58 • Color of Success instr. 5:11 • The Character instr. 3:59 Love Sign (a cap.) and various single edits have to be ommited. Hopefully, Rhino does their homework well! [Edited 6/17/26 21:58pm]

Ha, good catch 👍 I was confused as well about the "45th anniversary" subtitle under which it is promoted... but it's explained in the messages on social media.

I find it hard to believe this is going to be released in a week's time and yet there is no tracklist etc. You'd expect listings at online retailers, for instance.

As far as I'm concerned, because I'm into that stuff, it's an electrofunk/synthpop masterpiece and one of the best former protégés albums ever, so I'm happy to see it brought back to the world's attention ![]() A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Or the 6 people who remember Morris Day's attention Nah I'm just kidding. I'd like to see some unreleased songs included but it seems like it's just some remixes and alternate versions. Nothing worth getting excited about for me.

Knowing how lazy Morris was his whole career (he claims it himself, so I ain't dissin'), I wouldn't be surprised if he'd just recorded what was needed and there wasn't any outtake at all, but who knows... Many "small" acts reissues capitalize only on "first time on CD" singles tracks anyway, outtakes aren't that common TBH. . And yeah, this is a niche product and will always be. Nevertheless, reissues usually always bring back some attention by niche audiences towards niche records, so it's cool. Morris missed that train, but in the 2000s, for example, there was a whole wave of CD/digital reissues by entirely forgotten new wave/synthpop acts, that were usually niche releases on small indie labels, yet often allowed those acts to get a whole new audience (some acts even chose to surf that wave and started to tour and/or record again after two decades!). Of course this was before algoryhmic streaming dominated the market, so IDK if that's still possible.

I've had the same feeling. I tried to look at rhino, wb music websites and not a thing. No pre sale listing on Qubuz, apple music. Is it really going to just shadow drop? Weird.. We'll have to wait and see I will take my place, In the great below
