Okay, so, I hope this isn't too confusing:


A few years back, I took on the gig of News Moderator for the Org.

I maintained the front page during 2004's Musicology Tour - it was demanding, frustrating, sometimes thankless and often overwhelming. Most of all, IT WAS A BLAST.

After the tour ended and newsworthy activity died down in Princeland, a few issues arose in my personal life that needed my attention and energy, so I wasn't able to keep on keepin' on with the news page and I stepped down.

I started using a new account, "Anx", which I hoped would distinguish me from my former mod position, while letting people know that it was still me. For the most part, that was a successful idea.

Well.

Now I'm happy to report that my personal life's a lot less crazed, and with major rumblings of new Princely activity upon us, I'm excited to put my News Moderator hat back on and start rockin' the old Anxiety account again.

So yeah, as of today (actually I've been piddlin' around with the news page all this week ), I'm back in the saddle as Org News Moderator.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

* I'm back ONLY as News Moderator. Beyond that, I'm the same ol' schmoe I've been for the past coupla years. I'm not handling interpersonal issues, i.e., forum flame wars, snippings and lockings, or any other issue that is not directly news-related. We have a full battery of lovely moderators on hand to tend to those needs. My "job" here is purely editorial.

(THIS NEXT THING IS IMPORTANT)

* I don't have my full news moderator toolbox restored, though I do have enough to maintain the front page with a few creative (and TEMPORARY) workarounds. What does this mean to you? It means that you may have started a thread, but you may see someone else's thread on the same topic featured on the front page. It means that you may have submitted a news item, but when it's posted it appears to be credited to me instead of you. Yes, I realize these things don't appear fair. Unfortunately, my ability to move threads around and feature them are a little limited FOR NOW. I will do my best to ensure everyone gets proper credit for their efforts because YOUR SUBMISSIONS AND EFFORTS MEAN A LOT...but for now, I have to run things a little goofy to make sure everything is posted in as timely a manner as possible. Please bear with me, I promise we'll be running smoothly soon!

* On a personal level, I'll soon be vacating my Anx account, so for those of you who orgnote me to say howdy, orgnote me via my Anxiety account instead. I am now the Anxiety Formerly Known As Anx (sorry, hadda go there).

generally speaking, this is the good idea for submitting news to the org...though right now, until all the bugs are worked out, it's the ONLY way i can guarantee proper submission credit.

otherwise, anything goes (though i will try to keep it as painless as i can).

I vote we rag Anxiety on the "search" button. If you fix that, you should be upgraded to "senior mod": all the benefits, or lack of, included.

Angst Back in Moderation

Anxiety has just returned to the front pages of "Prince org" after a number of years in pop obscurity (he briefly changed his name to a barely-pronounceable 3-letter abbreviation, during which time he was known as the "Anx formerly known as Anxiety" or just Anx). He claims that he has retired some of his more risque hits (clearing up flame wars and other interpersonal shit) and has entered a more mature phase of his purple reign. Best known for... (shit - what is he well-known for? Attempting to be funny and sometimes succeeding? Well-written posts?)

Many doubt that he can return to his former glory, while a few diehard fans who continued to pursue him in his anonymous "iety-less" days claim that he produced some of his best material in this hidden period (though much of it was lost to all but a few avid M&M readers). Will this mark a return to higher standards of grammar and spelling on the org? We are all XXX-ious to see...

OH, and uh, OH YEAH:

Some of the glitches in my moderator tool kit have been fixed by the powers that be (thanks, Ben!) and it's gonna be far easier for me to post news items quickly and with proper attribution to the folks who submitted info.

SOOO, all I gotta do is remember how to use all this stuff and I'll be in good shape again. Sorry in advance for all the times I will break the Org in the coming days. When the Org hiccups in the near future, just think of it as Anxy saying hi!

Now that Anxiety has made his triumphant comeback, I wonder if a certain heavily lip-glossed talk show host will come around more often
