Tamar Davis album cancelled/postponed again Sorry guys. Tamar's album has been cancelled or postponed indefinitely...that's the word from Universal today. I don't know anything else about it so no need to PM me. Just for your information. Could change tomorrow though. "It ain't over." | |

How awful for her. Just imagine, for a good part of your life you've worked towards being a professional singer and releasing an album and you get what (by all accounts) should be a big break--working and touring with a musical legend but then somehow it goes all wrong.
Not to play the blame game, but I wonder who is behind these postponements--Universal, Prince or Tamar? (Wasn't the last one attributed to her wanting to work on the album more)? And if I may be a bit selfish--how does this affect any chance of a 3121 tour? I'm pretty skeptical about the "end of July" rumor that's going around, but I figured if a tour was going to happen it might have been in conjunction with the release of her album in August. Now what? Poor Tamar. And I was kind of looking forward to this album. For the most part I've liked what I've heard.
However, seems that Carmen Electra is free again ( http://www.prince.org/msg/5/195873 )--maybe she & Prince can release an(other) album in time for a tour.

Have artists learned nothing from Prince's former "proteges?" You go NOWHERE under Prince's supervision. He has worked with many talented people in his day, and all of them that tried to release something on his label or under his supervision have failed.
What a strange time in Prince history...no tour, no promotion, no website...hard to imagine that he's done a complete 180 since "Musicology." | |

with the tamar album shot down, the chances of any kind of prince tour this year look pretty bleak...especially after the closing down of the club. | |

they who? Letoya Luckett is on Capitol. That was Capitol and Letoya and Tamar is on Universal in a totally different situation so the term they does not apply. With that said, I hope Tamar's album is coming out. It would be a shame for her to go through all that and have her album shelved. If not with Universal hopefully an agreement gets reached to have it distributed another way. [Edited 7/18/06 8:06am] | |

that's what I think too.if that's true that would be the epitome of ironic. he does all that to help her get on and then he turns out to be the reason it gets shelved. hopefully P wouldn't stand in her way. seems like he wouldn't want it to go sour that way. but who knows with him? he might already be working on the next side project/protoge/prototype. | |

In addition, Janet, Justin T and Jessica Simpson have albums coming out around the end of August and the beginning of September.
